Subject: Question Regarding Monowhips
Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2005 14:20:23 -0800 (PST)
I need some advice, I am in a quandry regarding
Monowhips and the Armor Spell.

I have a PC who has acquired a pair of Monowhips and
we recently had an encounter with a mage with a
powerful Armor Spell (Force 8). Now, he never actually
fought the guy but an arguement engaged regarding the
effectiveness of the whips. Now I just read the Errata
on the Armor spell and it says that it creates a
"glowing field of magical energy" around the person in
the spell.

To me that is sufficient to keep the the Monowhip from
gaining it's 1/2 impact lethalness. Granted I am the
Game Master and I have the final call, but, is there
an offical place I can look to back up my choice?

Dingo

Well, it doesn't say whether the "glowing field" is co-located with the
target or not. But, what it does is simply adds its force to both the
impact & ballistic armor rating of the target. I'd be inclined to say that
the monowhip hasn't changed, just the armor of the target has. The monowhip
still has to go through, but the 1/2 impact armor is now increased by 1/2
force. IE, I'd leave it alone. Monowhips are nasty for a reason.
