One...What ever happened to the idea of specialized books for things
like espionage that was mentioned at GC99?

I can answer this one :]

That really wasn't a specialized book, more as it was going to be a "themed"
book, for the most part. That was (And could still be) the idea behind the SOTA books
(State of the Art). These were/are/could be designed to be a yearly or somewhere near
there update book for the world of Shadowrun.

Basically the idea was that it would have a bunch of various "new stuff" in
it..> New Guns, New Programs, New magic, and new rules as well. it might ugrade the
tech r magic curve a little by doing things like upgrading robots or nanotech, or
wahtever. This way you could get some new toys without waiting for enough stuff to be
thought up and/or submitted to make up an entire new Gun Book or Cyber Book.

One of the concepts for it was to make each SOTA book have a theme, so that some of it was
a section of gear, articles, and rules for whatever the theme was "Espionage, for
example).

SOTA is currently listed as a book in the "Maybe sometime after.." category, due
to the material Rob has already to get out, and the fact that he's not thinking quite that
far ahead yet. He's still in the process of setting up shop for FanPro US (Which, ATM,
consists of Rob. He *is* the company :)), and getting through the convention season, plus
getting the first couple new books out on time and in one piece :]

Chances are there will be more long range info at Gen Con. If not, it's because of what I
mentioned above. For the most part, i know the freelancers are all more or less "on
hold" till after Convention season at least.

However, I will ask Rob at the Seminar if they're going to try and do the themes or not
for SOTA, If/when they do SOTA.
