Because of people being creative with how they quoted messages, it
looks like I've been saying things that I haven't. What I actually said:

> I think the relevant section of the grimoire says that Masking can be used to
> make the initiate's aura look like:
> 1) that of a mundane's
> 2) that of an ordinary magician
> Ok? And then, on the facing page, it has an illustration which strongly

And I then went on to say that although we allowed this disguise-type
Masking, I considered it to be a bad decision. And that we allowed 1
quickening per Initiate level, which I also consider a mistake.

Also, that:

> Well, normally one masking makes the aura appear the same as a Mask spell,
> and there's a masking on the Mask spell to hide it.

and the problem with this is that it makes mages even more **** powerful.

Could people (this means you, Damion :-) use names or abbreviations as
part of the quoting, when you're quoting people who've quoted others,
and start cutting and pasting them all together?

Sheesh, Ivy already thinks that the campaign I play in is non-shadowrun. :-)

I don't see how this could be, unless people cut and pasted things. That would
be really creative, you could make people say almost anything you wanted them
to say :-) Just by including lines it is rather difficult to alter what people
say (unless you actively try).

I see the idea here: Mask yourself to look like anthing you like (with a Mask
_spell_, not the initiate abilty), then mask the mask spell so it looks like
it is not there. Still, this would not hold up to astral examination, unless
you are one of the school of thought that a spell cast on an astrally
projecting mage effects him as it would normally, because a mask spell only
alters your physical side, not your aura. Anyone looking at you in astral
space will see the spell active (or won't of you have it masked), but sinse
you are only able to mask yourself as a mundane or regular mage, then unless
your mask spell is making you look like another (meta)human, then it will be
pretty obvious that something odd is up. However, this would be an awesome way
to impersonate somebody else. Oh, a though - can you mask spells, or only foci?
'Cause if it's only foci then you would have to lock the spell on you, which
costs karma.

Me???? Inncoent litle me???? Woulf I do something like that??? :-)

hunh? You mean that downright annoying practice of putting a LUKE> in front
of every line that you have written? I get annoyed when others do that, what's
wrong with just a ">"? If someone else has quoted someone else, then there
will
be two ">", and it will look like ">>" and you would have to
be thick not to
be able to realise that! If it's for personal reasons, like you wish to know
_exactly_ who quoted, who quoted who in the message I am quoting from, then I
spose I can accomodate you, but I don't see the need.

So? In the rules it says "modify them how you like" (paraphrased), so by
modifying your game you are, technically, playing _by_ the rules.
