While many of the worlds most valuable woods
do come from the rain forest, they are not the
fast growing type, they are the slow growing
hardwoods. Most of a rainforest is (from a
logging perspective, not mine) junk. Whether
magically fast-grown forests produce
slow-growing wood faster is up to a GM. In my
campaign its pretty moot because the rain forest
in Amazonia eats up and spits out anything
technological that enters; gold mining is no
longer worth the risk let alone logging,
