Doc has already stated that we can't stop the
shutdown, or kill Deus, so we need at least one thing
to tie the chapters together. What if the central
idea was something simple?

For instance, a power outage. One writer could write
the cause of the outage as the first chapter, each
other chapter includes the blackout at some point in
the story. The book would simply be the arcology at a
glance. Everyone's stories would be occurring
simultaneously, so there is no need to put them in any
particular order.

What do you think?
Kismet

A blackout sounds good to me. I also like my idea of a large running gun
battle (just because I want to write that story a LOT). Another idea I can
come up with is an explosion, an earthquake, everyone in the Arc goes to
bed and the next morning it is all re-arranged but they are OK (to further
the opinion put forward in RA:S that Deus is just toying with the people
inside and experimenting), or maybe just that Pax is killed and there is a
funeral for her. You know, basically something grandiose which everyone
experiences. Kinda like those Star Wars books, "Tales from Jabba's Palace"
or "Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina". If you haven't read them, they are
stories about characters in, you guessed it, Jabba's Palace or the Cantina
when Luke and Co were there. Those events took place around them, but yet
each character was different. If you want specific examples, I can give
you them later.

By the way, I think that this was what Doc' was proposing.

I'm assuming that Deus is an AI program, yes?
If so, yell at me privately and I'll hit you with an idea.
