If a piece of cyberware seems too powerful what do you do?
Here the item in mention has been the transducer, but for my group the item
was the
Smartlink-2 which makes called shots very easy indeed especially considering
the
only difference between it and a Smartlink-1 is 2500¥.
This controversy led to arguements over rules modifications and such for
about
a week or so, at the end of which we decided to leave the rules alone.
The moral of my story is that FASA did a really good job with M&M so before
you think about changing the availability, cost, essence/BI cost of anything
ask
yourself if changing the rules is really the best answer to your problem.
For example, if transducers are a problem why not give the enemy RF scanners
so they can find out what frequency the runners are on and listen in.
Or if Smartlink-2s are a problem observe the rule that says it takes a Free
action
to call a shot and that shots may only be called if the GM sees it as
reasonable.
