Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about the history of a new char, and need some help.

The problem is, from what time on one can assese that somebody has a
magical potential?

Can the doctor right after birth say "Mrs Smith - your son has a very
special gift. I'll give you the adress of a specialist." Can sobody find
him before entering primary school, or looks the aura of a not jet
awakened magician like Joe Everybodies until he awake (what happens
sometime during puberty IIRC).

AFAIK that's the way it's done: you can't give an estimation of
one's magical abilities until puberty at the very least. Kids have auras
that either look perfectly mundane, or are overloaded with all the strong
emotions children have, almost all the time and often many at once, to the
point where the signal/noise ratio is too low to be sure of anything unless
you're very, very good at assensing and/or master Filtering metamagic...
"Childhood static" if you like.

For most magicians, the abilities manifest around puberty, and from the same
time it's also apparent on the astral plane.
