Ok I know it's nothing to do with shadowrun but I also know there are alot
of Red Dwarf fans out there. Well I've just found out about a rather nifty
ftp site.

As promised, red Dwarf Archive:

toaster.ee.ubc.ca

/pub/red-dwarf

There you go, have fun.

Anybody watch Red Dwarf on this list? It's hilarious. I wonder if you
could make a shadowrunning team based on that show?

I don't think they'd get much shadowrunning done, except by dumb luck :)
Let's see...

Lister: an ork who thinks he's a lot more capable than he actually is;
Musical Instrument (Guitar) skill -6.
Cat: a cat shapeshifter? Or maybe a rocker-type with high Charisma and no
dress sense...
Rimmer: a low-Force watcher-turned-free-spirit, hopelessly afraid of
everything because it might banish him.
Kryten: a cyberzombie with lots of headware memory, use{full|less}
attachments, and spare parts.
Holly: artificial intelligence with Intelligence 1.
Kochanski: former military officer, possibly the only team member with
useful skills.

Aaaagh! Shutupshutupshutupshutup!

First everyone going on about Kryten's groinal socket... then Gurth
nyah-nyahing me about how cool season 7 is, which we don't have... I'm
gonna go nuts!

Lady Jestyr-the-mad-RD-fan-who-WANTS-TO-SEE-SERIES-7-NOW!!!!

On a serious note, I don't think a SR RD team would work - they're a
bunch of unprofessional slobs, that's what makes the show funny, but it
wouldn't make a game real great.

You haven't noted all the ref's to Kryten in the past couple of days? I
don't watch the show, especially since it isn't on the air around here
any more:( but I've managed to catch a few episodes...

Of COURSE we watch Red Dwarf.... Red Dwarf VII doesn't seem to be as good as
some of the earlier ones yet....

First time we saw it was in Polymorph, Season III. It may have been
mentioned before that, but I don't remember.

You can make a SR group out of anything, you could even have Scooby Doo
et al running. :)

Something like that. For most of the series he was a soft light hologram,
so making him incapable of interacting with the physical world fits well,
IMO. Paying a LOAD of Karma to gain manifestation power would be a good
idea, though :)

Have his brain transplanted into his chest, and make the head removable;
or use the interchangeable biopod module for full 'borgs from CP2020.

Or her virtual ears... (I first started watching Red Dwarf after they
replaced the male Holly by the female Holly.)

I've heard that Norman Lovett will be back as Holly at the end of this
season. I always thought he was the definitive Holly, and that Hatty
Haydridge should have stayed as Hilly (maybe popping up once or twice using
the Holly Hop Drive(tm)).

I haven't seen season 7 yet either. Is Gurth from Great Britain or
something? I mean when's season 7 going to come out in the states? Does
anyone see Red Dwarf on any channels in the U.S. anymore?

I'd have to disagree, the crew of the Red Dwarf would kick major ass! I
mean imagine how much damage they could do by being lost in the UCAS
visiting random corps and wreaking havoc,

.nl is generally thought to stand for "Netherlands," which to the best of
my knowledge is not part of Great Britain...

However, Gurth does have cable TV through which he can watch BBC 2 :)

Hmm... I never really liked the original Holly, but that's proabbly
because I only got to see him when they showed re-runs of the earlier
series a few years ago, and by that time I'd gotten used to seeing Hatty
Haydridge as Holly. I guess it's like with songs -- whichever you hear
first tends to be the one you compare other versions of the same song
to...
