Someone I know wants to create a spell that will reflect magic in such a
way that the offensive caster could become the target of his own spell. In
some ways, this would be similar to Redirect (Awakenings), but for spells
(and not necessarily just combat spells). also, it might be similar to the
metamagical ability of 'rebound magic.'
When thinking about Redirect, I recalled the "magical link" discussion.
How does Redirect work exactly? It says one must Delay Action until the
spell is cast against them, then cast this spell. Obviously (it seems) the
magician would know about the incoming attack and know who to target. The
same with Rebound Magic, IMO. However, Redirect can be anchored. Where is
the magical link in this case? How does Redirect determine the target with
no magician to make the link?
The desired spell is a sustained or permanent spell that would rebound
magic in a similar way to Rebound Magic.

Okay, for the Rebound spell, it would have to be a manipulation spell to
begin with and would involve Minor Environmental Changes, meaning a base
drain of S, then adding in a sustaining modifier (+1P), AoE (+1C), toss in
Elemental Effect to represent the fact that you are bouncing off spell
energies (in this case, astral energies)(+1C), and a Bonus Game Effect
penalty (+2C). Which means in the end the spell would roll it's force with a
target number equal to the force of the spell and the drain for the spell is
(F/2 + 7)D ...

And yes, this does mean that I allow spells to affect other spells ... and it
opens up lots of paths also at the same time ...

Enjoy ...

Mike
