ahhh, so now i understand... the reason I flamed Flare's first responsse
was that he was directly contradicting the SR1 rules... but now i understand...
So it seems that at least two people out there think that computers
does not require enough motor reflexes to work as a recorder... ok, so going
by that definition the only skills that you could get a reflex recorder for
would be under the 'main group' of ACTIVE skills (flare, etc. I'm capitolizing
this because it is a main group of skills, not because of anything you did)
... but only skills under the sub-groups of combat skills, physical skills, and
vehicle skills, and possibly some special skills(depending on your GM), right?

Sorry, I correct my self, my second line says 'SR1 rules', I meant to
say the shadowrun 1 description of skill categories, or something, it had no
opinion behind it, it merely said that it was wrong, when according to the spart
of SR1 dealing with skills, it was an active skill... but enough on that.

Ok, does anyone out there think that any of the technical skills might
work with reflex recorders? such as Biotech or electronics? I would only want
to hear arguments for why they might work as a recorder, since the argument put
forth by flare and his friend has already stated the against.

And flare, I'm not a power-gamer, I simply had a question to ask.
Oh, and the only reason that my characters are good is because I play
them and have played them for quite a long time. Most of the really good ones
(who've been around for a LONG time) have been unofficially retired, and I
almost never use them. Now that your argument about relfex recorders was
stated in an comprehendable way, I understand it. Always remember:
Argument is not merely contradiction. (YES IT IS! NO IT ISN'T!)

Bye! Kurt

Okay, a good reason that COMPUTER, NOT COMPUTER THEORY could be done by
a reflex recorder: when you logon, how long does it take you? With me,
since I logon often, I have it down to a science. I wind up typing the
password and such at lightspeed, and I screw up if I think about what
I'm doing. Granted, all computer stuff wouldn't be able to be done that
way, but a lot of it can. I am talking about TYPING, not programming.
That's why only the Computer skill would work. Like the rules said
(oooh...:)

Some of the simple things can almost be done by memory. Biotech I have
a problem with, since you are dealing with different circumstances each
time, unlike my logging in. You can DO surgery by reflex, but if any
complications set in then you'd be f*cked. Some electronics can be done
by memory, but it would almost have to be ultra-specialized (i.e. I can
fix the Sony datajack model hr4280, but nothing else. Think REPETITIVE
actions.
