After reading what you have written, I think I'll have to re-think my
strategy. In order to protect myself I will probably restrict the
included material to whats is contained in the Rulebook and maybe The
Grimoire since they have extensive use beside the material/spells and so
my reference would not represent loss of sales. I KNOW that still
represents copyright violation but what should I do? Ask FASA? If someone
could send me their e-mail address I will. Or if someone with quicker
access to them couls ask what their policy is, it would help me a lot!

Thank you all for your advice, probably saved me a lot of trouble!

If your going to make it available to everyone why not set it up so that the
database is easily updated by the users. Then we can add stuff that is
wanted. That is how Paolo did his charactor generator.

Or make an expert system that use rules that people can change (with
some exemples). It's a lot more work however...
I wanted to do that but I do not have the time for it right now.

I found a new library in C++ which is great : wxWINDOWS
You make code in C++ (which is good compared to C) and that code
can be directly compiled for UNIX Motif, XView and Microsoft Windows.
The tools given are VERY simple, object oriented, the source code
is given and is totally FREE.
The 2 pbs are : it takes place (30+Mo) and their is some errors but not
too disturbing (there is regularly a new version). A friend of mine has
done an impressive work with it in 1-2 weeks !
Last : there is a builder

I don't know Delphi but it is cheaper than wxWINDOWS and you can have it
right now :-)

Apart that I might be interesting work a bit with you

That IS how I planned it from the start. With the profusion of
home-brewed stuff, such a database would be useful if not user updateable!

Yeah. Sad that everyone that get hold of it adds lots of stuff and then post to
me the >100kb gear.dat file :)

My first intention was to serve as a repository for all this kind of stuff and
then make it public (oops, no-one is listening?) for everyone. But this way
works too, I only have to select new stuff from the various files and combine
it in a single .dat.

BTW, there are still memory problems around? The chargen works fine under
Win95... :)

About the cyberdeck emulator: I'm downloading the VR player based on the Jhonny
Mnemonic movie (http://www.spe.sony.com/Pictures/SonyMovies/10vr.html) probably
based on the CDK viewer from Autodesk. I'm going to take a look at it and see
if it can be customized for our dirty purposes...:)

Bye, Paolo
