Not lately. Between letting Lou go and hiring the new people to redo their
web site, the release schedule hasn't been updated since May. The dates
listed in the online catalog are a bit more recent (Sept. for Renraku,
Oct. for First Run, Nov. for New Seattle and MITS) but I don't think that
those dates are accurate either - after all they list SRTCG's Corp War as
"Coming Soon" in July of 1998!

Any ideas why that happened (letting Lou go)? He did, in my opinion, great
work on Earthdawn, and was informative and reasonably active on the
Earthdawn lists.

Send to private e-mail if necessary.

It's an open secret that FASA is dropping the Earthdawn line. Solid rumor
has it that they're in negotiations with another company who's interested
in buying the game... Which company is unknown, as is the status of that
deal, though that's not stopping anyone from guessing.

Personally, I'm *really* hoping that Earthdawn gets picked up again by a
company better prepared to market it. It's an extremely good game, my
favorite fantasy RPG by far, but FASA's never given it the marketing
commitment it needed for real exposure. They've made a few commendable
efforts (like putting the main rulebook on a CD-ROM for free with an issue
of SHADIS) but another company, one that didn't have to drop as much money
into promoting Battletech and Shadowrun, might give the game a stronger
image.

I'd sure hate to see Earthdawn die, though. As for Lou -- he was
certainly active on the Earthdawn list, and he's built a commendable game
system, but his personality didn't win many converts. >8-> He tends to
get very reactionary whenever the game is criticized. Having no
information link with FASA, I'm in no position to speculate on whether
interpersonal friction was one reason for his dismissal, but I wouldn't
call the idea ludicrous.

That's not solid rumor, that was said outright by Mike during the
Shadowrun Q&A at GenCon.
