I think in most places, churches giving sanctuary is only an emotional
thing, not something supported by any laws or special rights churches may
have. AFAIK in this country, if you're hiding in a church after committing
some kind of crime, the police has the same right to come and get you out
as if you were hiding in any other building.

As for SR, I can't picture megacorps caring much about churches giving
sanctuary if they really want to grab you. They might do it in such a way
as to prevent the event becoming known to the general public, but that's
just keeping an eye on their PR.
