I'm about to start playing the Renraku Arcology: Shutdown incident and am looking for
plots, ideas etc etc.
I don't know if the pc are to be looked in from the beginning or if they escapes or
wathever.
All ideas welcome.

Looking through the RA:S book, there's a lot of possibilities. Right around
the time that book came out my group got a little hooked on the setting (and
a LOT of characters got hooked on it more...permanently...) and so we did a
couple of different runs. The first was during the chaos right as everything
went down (we happened to be doing some shopping that day, and were in a very
bad place at a very bad time). Another involved a Renraku exec who escaped
tapping us for "our knowledge of the forces at work" to rescue a family
member still on the inside.

There's a lot of different ways you could play it, but the "break in" style
runs seem to work the best, IMHO, especially if, for your campaign you only
want to visit, but wouldn't want to live there. On the other hand, you could
even do an entire campaign with the characters as members of the Resisitance.
They could be trying to save as many people from Deus as possible, or just
trying to escape themselves. Whatever you decide, good luck.

According to Ronnie Grahn, at 15:18 on 4 Jul 00, the word on the street
was...

If the players don't know about the Arcology getting shut off from the
rest of the world, what I would do is send them on a normal shadowrun that
ends up in the Arcology just before Deus takes over. I had actually
planned to do this with my current campaign, but another idea, which
didn't fit with being locked up inside the Arcology at all, was more
appealing.

[Note that I would add spoilers space before explaining my idea more
fully, except that everyone here already knows about the Arcology being
shut down, so I won't bother.]

Anyway, my plan was to have the runners on their very first mission, get
hired as some kind of supplementary security for some important person who
is attending the opening ceremony. This requires them to work with the
Arc's security (who won't be pleased with this, but they can't get rid of
the PCs either) and to carry some limited weaponry and other gear into the
building, subject to scans by Renraku security forces of course. Once
inside, play the rest of the first session as a standard protection job:
lots of boredom, a few false alarms, etc. You can plan this out like you
would any other shadowrun, just make sure to stretch the ceremony long
enough to take up two game sessions.

At the start of the second session, continue where you left off. For about
ten seconds, that is -- once all the players remember again where their
characters were and what they were doing, all hell breaks loose. Run it
off the cuff from here, with the PCs trying to escape from the building,
and hopefully not forgetting to bring their VIP along. Let them run into
whatever strikes your fancy which could theoretically get into their way
(a close read of RA:S should give enough information about what Deus can
and cannot do at this particular time). If they get out, all the more
power to them. If they don't, as you're probably hoping, you can start
your Arcology campaign at the very beginning of Deus' takeover.

My team and I have been playing the Renraku Arc. Shutdown for about 2 months
now and they aren't the wiser that an AI is controling everything that's
going on inside. You should have them think that they're doing really good
and then all of the sudden have all these constructs come and kill one of
your members, and severly wounding the next and having them doss down in the
ork underground a bit. Just a segestion.
