Actually, I think the reason for that is that some of the free internet and
email services, such as hotmail, excitemail, yahoo, juno, among others,
automatically append those things to your emial, with no way to turn it
off, short of hacking into the yahoo server, which is somewhat illegal. :)
As opposed to AllAdvantage, which is one of those services that you get
money for referring others to, also for surfing the internet, albeit, you
get most of the money from referrals, which is basically a pyramind scheme,
albeit legal. Those, you choose to put your AllAdvantage number into your
.sig, as a means of getting more referrals. This is voluntary, and
somewhat annoying to those of us who get it.
Of course, to me, the yahoo/juno/excite, etc.. stuff is annoying, but I
recognize that not everyone has such good access to a computer and modem
that I have, and has to use on of those free email services.
What it comes down to, is if you can avoid it, please don't put ads on your
