One of my players want his character's Skill Wires (3) replaced with
some other cyber. What do you think would suit in the hole? He has
really been a pain in my ass with that. (I think you know this player
archetype 8) ... Can I say M....k.n? Or rather minmaxer? I'm still no
sure about him, some times he surprises me with some good
roleplaying, but other... ). [blah, blah, blah...]

Ok, I stop now. What you think?

Doesn't it say in Shadowtech (or maybe it was the SSCatalog) that you
can't remove cyber attached to the nervous system?

While we're on that topic, in either ST or the SSC it says that if you
remove a piece of cyber, you can get the Essence back. My question is,
where do you get the meat to fill in the hole? Shouldn't you have to pay
to get a clone made, then have the parts transplanted, as with Bioware?

Just curious,

Sure I see no reason why not...I imagine that no one really thinks about
that unless it comes up in a game...If it becomes a head ache, just
incorporate the replacement cost into what it takes to remove the 'ware
and be done with it.

No. It says you can't remove BIOWARE that's connected to the nervous
system... (After all, it's a part of it... effectively).

Well, you don't _have_ to... If you wanna remove your cyberarm for derma=
l
plating lvl. 2 that's all fine with me. But, then again, you wont have a
arm. Same thing with spineboosters. You want to remove it? Sure, just loo=
k
to it that you have a permanent hospitalized lifestyle ready. (Can you sa=
y
quadraplegic? I know you can...)
But thats just my two ören...

My rather unfriendly idea (will fit great to your M*nchk*n player) is
that the regular essence cost is not only lost when implanting
cyberware, but also when explanting it.
The reason for that is that the lost of essence comes from the nerve-
system adapting to the new things. A similar adaption is of course
necessary when the cyberware is gone.
This leaves BTW room to exchange or repair cyberware, as long as
an identical thing is the result, and it keeps the possibility for
upgrade open, since in this case you keep the old funczions or
interface or whatever you name it and add a new one.

This is all IMHO and house-ruling and been discussed controversial
with one of my players, so I myself take it not as a final rule,
but I think its consistent an logical.
In cases like this it will be nice.
