Is it just me or does anyone else have to check the
addresses of their replies to the listserv to make sure
it's actually going to the listserv? I've had to start
checking every reply I make since we switched from
majordomo to listserv.

I've had the same problem, when I reply to some messages it wants to send
it to the original sender AND the List, while others just go back to the
List (like they should).

i.e. To: user@*******
cc: shadowrn@***..

or

To: shadowrun discussion <etc..>
cc:

Everything is coming through fine for me. (My mailer shows all header
informations)

This is probably a hold over from someone who posted a reply to the
author, and then cc'ing to the list. You server probably knows that you
have just recieved identical messages, one goes in the trash, and you get
the first of the two to arrive.

If you want, send a query to the listserv, and check your options. You
may
have something odd set, though I doubt that is the case.

Thanks, but I already worked that out, so it's probably the first thing you
mentioned (which I just finished deleteing..) about somebody mis-directing the
post to the author then CC'ing the List....or something else entirely.

It's some people who have Reply-To fields in their message headers --
listserv doesn't replace them with the list address, so replying to a post
from for example Mark Steedman or Brian Allison means it'll be a personal
reply. It also happened with majordomo, BTW.

Since I happen to e-mail most of my messages (and post to USENET) via my
PPP link (Linux! Down with Microsplat!), the machine named in my headers
is one which bounces all inbound messaes.

Obrelated: If you don't respond to the mailing list and try to respond
directly to *some* of us, then your response is doomed a death of hops. :)

I noticed that... Now, though, the reply-to field seems to have
miraculously gone away :)

Sometimes I rlogin to my school account, sometimes I dont.

And if the mail is from 'phoenix.isr.umd.edu' then I'm mailing from
home, but not inserting a reply-to field.

NOspam! Works for me!

(Did you know that they sift USENET or even e-mail for addresses? Drek,
what a bunch of fragging losers.)

It seems a lot worse recently, i don't know why but the last month
i've got a lot of replies to me that should have been list. There is
no way i can change the relevant field each time easily though (i'm
sure theres got to be a switch someplace, this is pegasus mail)
I think somethings going on, maybe theres a mail programme going
about that gets things upset.

generally speaking a message bounced off the list will have a reply
to and a from fields, one should be set to the list address the other
should be the senders email, but this relies on the two mail
programmes and list not managing to get them switched somewhere along
the way, answer be careful, i get it wrong often enough by just
hitting return not wasting 10 secs checking.
