] While on the subject, the new system has come out with an
] equation to calculate player character reputations. I have always
] wanted something along these lines, but this one seems kinda
] extreme; for those who are unsure of what I speak the formula:
]
] (Karma - 1000) / 50 = target number for Etq. roles.
]
]
] I am not too sure of this formula. Any comments?

ShadowRun II has a dual repuatation system, public and private. Your private
reputation is the number karma you've earned. Your public rep is a percentage
of your total karma determined by the GM on an adventure by adventure basis.
Basically, if you earned 8 karma on very public adventure, you add 8 to private,
and maybe like 4 or 5 to public. Likewise, a very covert operation might earn
you 8 private (like before) and 0 or 1 public.

Now, to use the reputation, you take either the private or public rep (private
when dealing with other shadowrunners, public for corp/cop/media/whatever
types) and put it in the following equation:

(1000 - Reputation) / 50 = Ettiquite Target Number.

I agree that this seems pretty extreme. A character with a rep of 100 has an
18 for a target number. For my campaign, I've altered it to look like:

(750 - Reputation) / 50

Now, that Repuation 100 charcter is down to a target number of 13. May not be as
realistic, but it is more fun.

Greetings chumbado
A couple of weeks ago it was pointed out by somebody that the reputation
equation in SRII is too harsh....
what was the equation that was agreed upon by the list.....

Did anyone locate the rules for shadowrunner Reputation in SR3 because
the only ones that I can find relate to gangs?

I was wondering about that myself. The only thing I have found is some
obscure line on a even more obscure webpage telling me that reputation of a
runner is connected to his total karma.

You mean the Reputation rules related to total Good Karma the player has
earned that was in the SR2 rules? It didn't survive the transition. But you
could easily just lift them from the older BBB, since they don't seem to be
dependant on any rules changes. You know, hell, maybe Mulvihill put them in
the revised SRComp. I haven't had time to read through a lesser-revision yet
on my list like the SRComp (new stuff takes precedent), so it could be in
there for all I know.

It's just a term used for the Core Shadowrun rules so you don't have to type
out Shadowrun Third Edition or Shadowrun Second Edition or even shift around
for SR3 and SR2. It stands for Big Black Book. I like the term myself.

Hmm. Anther something that should be in the FAQ if it isn't already. All
the commonly used shorthand of the list.

In this case, BBB stands for Big Black (or blue) Book, namly the main rule
book. SR plus a number (1, 2, or 3) indicates a particular edition in
general, rather than a specific book. Other book shorthand are as follows:

RBB - Rigger Black Book
R2 - Rigger 2
VR2 Virtual Realities 2.0
SSC - Street Samuri Catalog
FoF- Fields of FIRE.
MitS- Magic in the Shadows
SrC- Shadowrun companion
NAGRL- Neo Anarchist Guild to Real Life
TSS, NAGEE & NERPS - A group of net based groups of SR add ons

Probable new books:
M&M - the upcoming Man and Machine, which is expected to replace Shadowtech
and Cybertechnology
CC - the upcoming Cannon Companion which will replace the old Street Samuri
Catalog and Fields of Fire...

Wouldn't have helped in my case, I've not read the FAQ :-)

I'm familiar with the anacronyms for most of the books, with a
bit of thinking, most people should be able to figure it out,..
but BBB??? Anyways. Thanks.

There's mention of reputation in the Interrogation table (+/- Karma Pool).
But the old reputation rule isn't in the main book anymore.
