Subject: Reputation Equation(s) for Shadowrun I

Howdy all.

I have looked over SR II. Since my momma taught me "If You Don't
Have Something Nice to Say then Don't Say Anything at All." I
shall remain silent concerning the overall product. However
today's topic does stem from the book, even though I have been
wanting to incorporate it into my games earlier than this. It
has to do with... Reputation.

Okay, let's ignore the system out of SR2 please. I didn't
fully comprehend it. So let's talk about the Minotaur Street
Reputation System (MSRS for short.)

Here is what I have in mind.

Character's Reputation = C - (KA + #R + CA + R)

Where:
C = some beginning Constant attributable to all beginning
characters.
KA = Karma Average = Total Karma/Number of Runs
#R = Some mathematical variation of the # of runs you have
attempted.
CA = Cameo Appearances.
R = Residuals (GM Discretionary Bonus)

Okay to explain:

Karma Average: I imagine this number will represent your
overall success as a shadowrunner. Clearly we all have
our ups & downs, but this is the best way to represent
how well your character performs when employed.

Number of Runs: Rather than completely rely on a Karma
average, I believe the number of runs you have been on
should influence your street rep.

Cameo Appearances: Okay, in our game, players have
multiple players, as well as a plethora of NPC's. This
variable is to account for everytime the character is
called in for a significant event. ie, Gemini, a samurai
who spends a great deal of time collecting weaponry,
consequently when someone wants a firearm to throw-down,
he is called in. It has become almost habit for the team
to contact him before hitting a fixer, etc. So when they
do and it is significant, he should be awarded for this.

Residuals: This is the open end of the equation. It could
be some factors added in to the overall, or adjust at the
spur of the moment. Returning to our above Samurai, he
has developed a reputation for Killing Dragons. So when it
comes time to look him up, people remember him as the
Sam who slagged the Dragon; in this instant the Residual
is considered beneficial. Whereas if he was to go fishing
up at Lake Louise, a certain resident of that lake may
recognize him, remember him for killing a fellow draco-
form, and decide to burn him right were he was squatting.

All that his left it to calculate how these variables will be
weighted and what Constant to establish....

Has anyone done anything similar?
Ideas - Suggestions - Criticisms of the above system?

****DISCLAIMER: I am not mathematically oriented. I am just now taking
my second class in Statistics for Social Research so
please no overwhelming equations. Assume I know nothing
about Stats.
