No, you don't. While it is a greate advantage to be an initiate if you have an
ally, it is not required. Even though the ally must come from a metaplane, that
does not mean you have to be an initiate. Elementals and Nature Spirits come
from metaplanes, but you don't need to be an initiate to summon them.

Which means you don't have to be an intiate to summon one.

No.
