Err, why did the GM let you do this?

the sr2 rules. had magical theory 6 specially for this purpose, you eventually
roll a success. The whole process didn't depend on an NPC, I just needed a
shamanic circle & some money and time.
But it was done to prove a point, as I said......

Yeah, but you needed a shamanic lodge of at least rating 11, which I find
doubtful (Are there rules on their construction, etc?).

Also, if you're designing a spell, you've have to roll magic theory dice
against a target of 2*F-M, which is, if I assume your magic rating is 6,
comes up to 18. Since it takes 18 or 9 days, depending on if you already had
a lower force spell design, that's going to take quite awhile!

Once you design it, you have to roll a 22 in order to learn it. Yech!

How long did this shaman to do this?

Unless you put it on a spell lock, doesn't critter form seem kinda useless,
since whatever you do in critter form will be at a +2 penalty?

ok time few folks read the Grimoire again, with a VERY fine tooth
comb. (some of this is well hidden to 'i''l just look that up')

5,500 yen, target 11 to get for talismonger 11 days to set up, easy
enough.
However the required theory skill of 11 is another problem. According
to GR2 (and i was reading the rule again the other night) you CANNOT
research spells with a force higher than your skill. I know most GM's
(myself included) don't enforce the rule but if you have magician
problems its a good solution. [only stops a few tricks but it helps]

base research times are drain level determined
L 6 days

Where was this? I've been looking for this for years!

Dooh! I forgot that.

Yes, but if you have a lower force version of the spell, the time is halved,
hence it takes 18 or 9 days.

I was looking for something a little more specific. ;-)
