I've noticed that Fred Hoopers illustration for Shadows of Europe
(http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/gfx/soe_color_hooper_web.jpg) incldes an
obvious Sprite with a Minotaur and a Night One.

Now we do have official rules for playing a Minotaur and a Night One, but so
far you had to invent your own (or use Bulls:
http://bull.dumpshock.com/sr/sprite.html) rules to play a Sprite.

Could this drawing indicate that SoE would include official rules for
playing Sprites?

It isn't necessarily a Sprite (or Windling). It could very well be a Watcher
Spirit.

You are technically right, it could be anything since magic is real in SR.
So the Minotaur, could be a dwarf disguised with the invisilbe mages
illusion spell, and the Nigh One could be just a normal elf with some dark
paint just for the sake of it. And the Sprite coudl be a Great Western
Dragon shapechanged to look like a Sprite.

But...

Since Minotaurs, Night Ones and Sprites are all from Europe, and the
illustration if from Shadow of Europe, it is most likely that they all three
are just what they look like.

In any case, I'm still looking forward to SoE, more than any other book for
a long time.
