indoor use, kinda like a flying version of the Renraku Arachnoid. So I
went to look at the available electric power plants. Now, there are three
chassis for rotary wing UAV: Small, Medium, and Large. There are two
different types of electric power plants: Micro, and "Small and Medium". I
figured that micro was a typo, but then I look at the stats for the Micro
electric power plant.
Speed: 10 - 25
Economy: 5-10 meters/PF (1-5 minutes/PF idle time)
Fuel Size: 10 PF
Eh? Is this right? It means that at best it can fly 50-100 meters! An
NFL quarterback could probably throw it that far! If we were to really amp
up the speed, that means it could last 4 turns in flight. The listing for
"Small and Medium" has a load of 5-75 (even though the chassis has 0 CF?)
and can fly up to 475 KILOmeters?
Under methane, there is a "small rotary wing UAV", which has a Load 10-500
(even though the chassis has 0 CF?) This one could make it 100 kilometers.
Under Jet Turbine there is a "Rotary Wing UAV, all". This one has a bit
more believable Load (up to 450xB, which for my little flying scutter would
be a big 0), and could fly a whole 48 km... granted, it's basic fuel load
is 120 liters.
I'm starting to get the feeling that I could do better in 1998 by just
getting a remote control helicopter and strapping a tiny-ass camera that I
got from my local spy/p.i. store to the front of the thing. Range would
bite, though... =T
