Subject: Rigger 2 - missing engine?
Date: Sat, 6 Dec 1997 10:41:56 -0500
I'm currently playing around with the vehicle design rules and am working
on building an APC-template vehicle. However, there's no listing in the
book that I can see for the engines for this chassis. Am I blind? Or is
this really missing from R2? If it is in there, could I get someone to
tell exactly where in the engine table it is...

I did, it was the first place I looked. D'oh! Just found it under
'Special Vehicles'... That bothers me a little bit... it was listed under
'Cars' in the Vechicle Design Chapter and in the Chassis table.

Oh, well. Back to work (or something like that, anyway:)
Thanks, Keith.

Next question, then: the listed max Load for that engine is 6. The listed
Loads for the two APC-based vehicles in the book (the Devil Rat and
Striker) are in excess of 2000. Could someone enlighten me on this point?

Without blinking an eye actually....we added a few 0's behind the 6....as in 3
of them, to make it's maximum 6,000 Kg (Load). That puts the maximum weight
class somewhere about 12 tons, which makes the APC go no higher than a Light
Panzer range.

Did you also adjust the starting Load the same way, I assume?

I think so, as I don't have the R2 in front of me, I think we began the Load
with measurements in the "hundreds" however. Again, I don't have it in front
of me. Jon Szeto would be better to get these answers from of course

I think APC's are now classified under the Heavy Transport template. Read
about the Lonestar vehicle and the SWAT (or whatever) transport uses the
Heavy Transport template.

There's an APC engine on the Diesel table. I guess the designers decided
that, because modern APCs are nearly all powered by diesel engines, that
should be the only option available in SR. If you want a gasoline version
(for example), I suggest comparing a diesel engine for another vehicle to
a gasoline engine for that same vehicle, and adjusting the APC diesel
engine's stats accordingly.
