Heh. I'll make sure to give Hurricane Bonnie a big kiss for the ShadowRN
list if she happens to slam into my state (which is South Carolina, and
not of Confusion as is popularly claimed).

Hey, there's a thought. How many o' you guys have ever put your hapless
runners through a natural disaster, like a hurricane, tornado, earthquake
or whatever? It's quite a humbling situation.

GM: "Winds are picking up now...over 100mph now..."
PC: "But I've gotta go meet my contact. I crouch down and go out in the
street."
GM: "Congratulations, sir! You've just become more random debris!"

Oh Matt, this is priceless (so is that sig about the house btw :).

As for your question, oh yeah, hell yeah, and with good intentions yeah.

Want the fun??? We've had a game not all that long ago concerning the
blasting of the volcano (we put it in the French Guianas (sp?) for the fun of
it :) and the ensuing tidal wave. Characters (led by the troll in this little
project) decide their going to go save the now stranded members of Yomi. Do
so with modified "Shape Earth" spells combined in Ritual with some Earth
Elementals (Great Forms naturally ;P) to create a temporary reef/barrier on
one side of the island. Oh yeah, it was great. Sacrificed part of the
Islands east/southeast corner in so doing, but it was a riot.

I can also think of "whirlpools" from big and ultra-nasty Sea Spirits during
the final conflict of my multi-year campaign in the North Atlantic. Oh yeah,
that was fun...

PC : GM, can my character see the bottom of the atlantic from here???

GM : You think so, yes.

PC: Good, I'll jump, I've got Catfall.

GM : As you leap off the deck of the ship, you suddenly realize that the ship
is caught in the funnel as well and following you down :P

Mongoose almost died because of a hurricane. [Gather round, kiddies,
I'll tell yee the tale.] He was a vamperic pawn, dying of essence loss (damn
blood spirits) ,and was stuck on Cuba with a hurricane coming in 8 hours. He
hired a smuggler to take him to Miami, but got ambushed on the way to the
airfield (wich might not have happened if he was not in a hurry). Anyhow, he
was caught while fending of the attack (enough missles and you will eventualy
be unable to run away, even on Kamikazee) so others could escape (yes, I MADE
my willpower check vs the "influence" of the nosferatue that one time), and
that screwwed his chance to leave the island for 4 days- enough time for him
to die. Fortunately, it was also enough time for the team to rescue him
(badguys couln't leave either) and the team mage to do a couple quests for a
force 2 "hibernate" spell which (as this was sr2) did the trick of keeping him
alive long enough for the team to find a doctor, his domitor, and a big vat of
goo that he still lives in to this day. It remains to be seen if he will ever
be as lucky as Bull and actually recover from his condition.
{ Of course, seeing as my GM wrote him into T:SH's shadowtalk in 2058, and
we were playing in 2056, I have an out- unless there's a "clone" running
around that AIN'T me. }

Good idea - unless you're a player yourself...;-)
When playing a fantasy roleplay our GM used to always let us crouch through
primeval forest (damage from mosquitos as big as your hand) or march in
desert climate (GM: "Hm...how much water did you say you have left?") or hip
high snow (damage from the cold).
That reminds me of that flaw... "low heat resistance" and roles against
heat damage. (I don't know who posted it.) What about a similar thing for
cold?
I copied it and simply replaced "heat" by "cold"... so it actually
isn't my
idea:

LOW COLD RESISTANCE
Value: 1 to 4
Characters with this flaw cannot deal with cold very well; they
must add the value of the flaw to the Power Level of any damage
taken from excessive cold.

But anyway, it's a lot of fun to play natural disasters or just extreme climates.

Never tried that. Although I now that you mention it, I might. Makes
me glad that one of the people I chat with specializes in emergency
disaster planning(or something like that).-grin-

Uhmm... Aren't the Guianas in South America? Or are there another
ones? And
isnt Yomi near Japan? If the waves went that far, it wasn't a volcano,
it was
Armageddon's asteroid :) .

Actually, tsunami's go pretty damn far. It's jus' that they're not
noticable until they near a coastline. The reason for this is due to
the depth of the water.

Yomi is actually in the Phillipines, and I may have the "French Guianas" mixed
up with another set (Antilles??? Damn IT!!! Where's that map ;P)

How many people make regular weather an issue?

It's raining, everyone gets a +1 to all their TNs for this combat (the
water is making your weapons slipper, it's getting in your eyes, and
it's hindering perception).

It's foggy, +1 to perception tests.

It's cold, hot, humid, snowing, windy, etc.

I live in Denver, and we have our fair share of nice days. But I can
remember many occasions when I had to work on my car on a cold day
(down around 0 F), and it definitely slowed me down. And that's just
because it was cold.
