Has anyone heard anything about this? Apparently the RPGA are dumping
any non-d20 games from their list. That means Virtual Seattle is on the
way out. Is this true?

How common/widespread is VS? I don't actually know how common VS games
are - I just know that I enjoy the one which runs down this way on occasion.

Is VS going to get picked up by Fanpro's Commando's? Is it even being
considered? It sounded to me at the last game I played that there was a
fair bit of planning completed for the next year of the campaign.

For those who don't know, VS is at www.virtualseattle.net.

Well, the VS organizers are working on something currently with Fanpro and
Wizkids. With luck, there'll be some news soon.

Incedentally, the news of this only came out at Winter Fantasy. When the
decree was made, Rich Ousterhout had not been told. The RPGA bigwigs
literally dropped the bombshell on him at the general meeting. Likewise,
Rob Hobart of Living Rokugan only heard about it the night before... Don't
you just love RPGA communications.

Below is Rich Ousterhaut's post to Rec.games.frp.cyber.

Yes, this is true information.

The reasons are not important, but be assured that Virtual Seattle
will continue. We are in discussions right now with WizKids/FanPro
for the possibilities involved with having them officially underwrite
and sponsor the campaign. Even if they decide it is not worth the
effort (which I find unlikely) there are other organizations that are
interested in supporting the campaign and keeping it running.

So hold tight, and as soon as I know something, i'll post an official
statement...

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

It is indeed true. The announcement was made at Winter Fantasy that all
non-D20 Living campaigns would be discontinued as of the end of 2003 if they
did not switch to D20. Only two campaigns are affected by this. Living
Rokugan (which has the option to, but has refused) and Virtual Seattle
(which does not have the option.)

James, or anyone else that knows. You know WHEN this comes into
effect? Which convention, or did they switch at Winter Fantasy?

The announcement was made at Winter Fantasy, and the campaign will be
terminated as of Jan. 1, 2004, unless the organizers decide to end the
campaign prior, as Living Rokugan is doing. (They'll be running their last
RPGA games at Gencon.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides Shadowrun, L5R was my favorite game. I hated it when WotC
convereted it to d20 AND moved the timeline a few hundred years into the
future.

I guess that answers my question about what's going to happen to Living
Rokugan.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go collect the heads of the RPGA top
brass then commit seppuku.
