I never joke...well ocassionaly I do...but only on days ending with the
letter Y.

Maybe if knew what you were referring to, I could clarify the punchline?

Amongst other things.

I have a theory. Americans can't handle non-phonetic
pronunciations. (The sole exceptions being Native
American names, which have been beaten into you all
since childhood.) This is why, for example, Americans
can't seem to get that Aussie is pronounced Ozzie, not
Ossie.

Challenged, I tell you. ;)
