Yes, it did in fact only take 8 months to crack the RSA code, but you
must recall how many people were working on it.
I don't know the actual numbers, but I did read that very interesting
article. Something like 400,000 people working on it, from small pc's to
super-computers?

So, the average hacker would have taken 40 quintillion? years to crack
it, but not 400K people (or whatever the number was) working together on
Internet.


Still, it's a cool article, and a cool encoding formula.
