Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist (well, maybe something else, but that is
what I know him as) who drew these enormous, hideously complex machines
eg you pull a lever, which tips over a bucket of water which pours over
the cat which jumps up and screams, giving the mouse in the treadmill a
fright, so that it runs....[about 3000 steps].....flicking the switch and
turning the lights on.

kinda like The Incredible Machine (TM)

I would have posted privately, but I thought that there would be others
who wanted to know.
