There is some stuff that my chars have done w/ firearms B/R (everything
moderated by the GM and the rest of the gaming group...). First of all..
yeah... we let him customize his own weapons... (he has the requisite
facilities.) He's done stuff like mess with smartlinks (not changing the
performance in any way)... the biggest thing that he's done is take hid
Guardian (my fav HP in the game), hack the barrel down, and build a
silencer into it. The way we handled this was : The ranges were now LP
intead of HP, the concealability was unchanged, and it had a silencer...
it has worked prety well... all of the bonuses have been well balanced
(yes I know I'm using *that* word again.) by the disadvantages... all in
all I like it...

Oh, you're talking about just modifying existing weapons rather than
designing them from scratch. In that case I'd just triple the cost for the
first model. _If_ the character is successful, then he can build more with
a routine B/R test and the actual cost of materials. But again, if the
initial B/R test is failed then the materials and time are wasted and the
character has to start again at the begining.

Agh! I wouldn't even think about the stuff required to design and make
your own guns... besides, its almost as good messing with existing
guns... (you should see the things ol' Max has done with his original
predator II <his first gun!>... ho boy...
