<SNIP all this stuff Granite said that I agree with.>
You know, if he adopts a totem, does all the right things for a long
time, he might get a little bit of the power.Say, the ability that when
he becomes enraged, or does what his totem does best, suddenly a totem
mask appears, and shows up everytime he/she enters that emotional
state. As the amount of time that he has worshipped his totem lengthens,
he becomes more and more powerful, until he becomes the equivelant of a
conjuring adept(except that he could only summon one type of spirit.Ands
that depends on the totem.)But I'm Talking about a long term thing, not a
Play a coupla times and conjure like a pro.In RL my totem would have to
be Dog,And if I was to suddenly goblinize,I would most likely turn into
an ork.I mean I already look kinda like one.All I need are the tusks and
the stronger stats.

Also, what are your Slang names for totems.I know Rat's is The Gray
Brother, but I don't know any more. Can you guys and Gals healp me out?I
espicialy need the one for Dog.

But... _WHY_??? Choosing a totem for a non-magical character is a way
to enhance roleplaying. Why would one want to make it ruleplaying, or
even roll-playing? Why would one character deserve special boni for
roleplaying, while others, who choose different (non-native-american)
backgrounds, don't?

Having a totem is an _aid_ for roleplaying, as one has a ... templarte
how to act. Get me right, I have two chars who 'follow a totem' (hm...
in fact, three, but the last one is a shaman and thus _has_ to follow a
totem :-) and like them, and the idea, but I just can't see why one
would give "a little bit of the power" to a character.
