OK, here I go again.
I can find Jon's excuse viable but Mike's explanation reeks of
cultural bias and fails to consider the South's precarious existence.

>>Time

Had to catch up with the rest of North America? So all of the NAN
were ahead of the South? Bull! After the succession the South was on par
with UCAS and split rather peacefully. Every connection UCAS had CAS had.
This would begin to differ as Aztlan invades and seizes part of Texas and
the Vocal threats now and again of the UCAS of reseizing CAS. The fact is
the CAS has more hostile borders than the UCAS. The places the CAS in the
position of the USA during the post WW2 Cold War without an ocean to
separate them from the enemy (enemies). The USA's military strength and
advancement was highly developed during the Cold War because of perceived
need. The CAS has the same belief if not more so. By 205X CAS would not
have needed to catch up, they would all ready be at the forefront.
As far as some people arguing about where that technology wouldn't
be developed in the South also doesn't affect things much because the
South would be a primary candidate of new war technology, and yes more so
than the UCAS.
The real question, if the Stonewall was a diversion what did they
really have in the works? Also ponder the fact that Aztlan and even UCAS
would have spent enormous amounts of money trying to develop their own
LAV MBT out of fear of being technologically out maneuvered. Like I said,
the is the Second Cold War.

Personal opinion, I would imagine that the CAS would be pouring a lot of cred
into the military industries, given that they have Aztlan right next door and
have lost a chunk of their territory to them. And they know that the Azzies
want the rest to go along with it.
Example, think of Israel. Six hostile nations on all sides. Everyone serves in
the military once they come of age and, in some parts, people are encouraged
to carry weapons openly. Not just pistols either, but M-16's and Uzi's.

Now -this- is an interesting thoughts. If you know any of them, find a member
of my PBEM for a possible answer.... :)

Well, okay, that's true. I think FASA has said that the CAS has the larger
of the two armies and that they are experiencing budget strain because of
the cold war with Aztlan and their large military budgets.

Now that's an interesting question. Could be damn near anything.

Now, isn't that a thought, the only question is, is who is going to be the one
to crumble, and with all due apologies, I don't think Aztlan is going to be
the one to collapse.

How about the CAS has some Sub-orbitals with which they use to launch THORS
from very high up in the atmosphere?
