Well folks, I just got done with my first day in Perth/Freemantle.

I found a gaming store with a SERIOUS back-log of games. They had about 7
or 8 copys of VR 1.0!!! And Grimore One (4 copies)!!! And Mercuial (about
5 of those). And a copy of NAGRL, Germany Sourcebook, Elven Fire (what's
that about anyway?), and Shadowbeat.
They also had 2 copies of 1st ed. Including one Hardcover. Which I picked
up for about $54 (Aus) in near mint condition.

Of the current edition, they only had Matrix and MitS.

I now have bragging rights that I own a 1st ed hardcover.

(Sorry, just had to brag... :)

So, they think those things fell through a hole in the time/space-
continuum, or what?

Are they still new to electicity, or do they know it is not sent by the
Anti-Christ?

So, that's what they get for not telling me they have Shadowbeat...

I don't blame you :)

I hope you got Shadowbeat. IMHO it's one of the best supplements at
filling in the cracks of the bathroom floor that is Shadowrun...

okay, I don't get the analogy either, but I'm going to leave it as a rare
glimpse into my mind.

Grats John! :)

Of course, that was the main book I was looking for. The 1stHC was a bonus.
If it wasn't for the fact that VR 1.0 and Grimore 1.0 were REALLY outdated,
I would have picked those up too.

What's funny is I originally sold my 1st Ed book to a friend when I bought
the second edition and then had to go back years later and buy another
copy :)

But they have such a classic look to them,
and (I at least think...) the story in VR1 is a great view of the
mechanics behind the matrix.

Man, if you go back you MUST pick up a copy of VR 1.0. The novella that
takes up half the book is one of the best SR stories ever told. Well worth
having in your collection.

I have one too -- well, the French version. Does that give me the
right to brag? :p
Anyway, congratulations John, that's an impressive number of rare, old
and cool books you just got. The others are right -- you should have
bought VR 1.0 too. Haven't read it, but the fact that it contains the
short story "The Matrix" is based on makes it worth reading IMHO.

But can you brag that you have four SR hardcovers, of three different
editions? ;) (Now if only I could find a first-printing SR1 hardcover...)

I've got that and the flyers for Shadowrun before the game came out.
And that video I still have to make for Adam... Maybe I should be

Ohhhhh.... I just remembered. The place also had a single copy of NAN
(volume 1) AND a Copy of UB (no boxed set. Just the book.) Talk about
temptation.

I can't claim about having four hard covers, but I do have a 1st print
run of both the 1st and second edition hardcovers and I do have one of
the numbered 3rd edition hardcovers. Those along with special edition
books for other games ... Oh well, still missing a few of the early
books for SR but that is what I get for not really getting into the game
until the 2nd edition came out.

There are two ways. One is that the second printing has "Corrected second
printing" in the lower left corner of page 5, but the most obvious one is
that the map of Seattle on the front and back inside cover is upside-down
in the first printing. An illustration in the equipment list (I think) was
also removed after the first printing, IIRC.

UB is not a box set; it's two books in a thick paper sleeve. If that is
what they had, and you're still in a position to go back to that store,
you might consider going to buy it :)
