one yet) getting ahold of a copy of Year of the Comet, if ANYONE knows
that they can get one and would be willing to purchase and ship it after
I've sent them the money PLEASE contact me, my local game stores can't
get it anymore due to the fact that it's between print runs.

Derek,

Where abouts are you? If we know "where in the world is Derek Hyde" that might
make it easier. Im willing to get one put on hold if you live nearby, but Im not in a
position to fiddle with international shipping right now. on the topic though, Ive seen
another copy of YOTC about a week ago in the city here (Australia, Sydney). I dont know if
its still there but I think I might be able to get one found if youre absoloutely
sdesperate.

then again there is always ebay?

Be hearing from you.

Oh yeah I suppose that stating that I'm in Kansas would help huh? So
someone stateside would be helpful cause I don't think I can get
international money orders....LOL

As it stands I think I've got the situation under control, someone's
already going to try to get it for me, however anyone that KNOWS that
they can get a copy within 150% surety can e-mail me personally and let
me know cause a couple of my players would like copies as well and I'll
pass you on to them.

Got the same problem as Derek!
My position is quite worse. I live in Poland and I haven't even seen this book exept for
in the web.
Does anyone now of any e-shop that still has some in stock.
Also if anyone knows how to find and order Harlequin, Harluquin Back and Bug City, I shall
bow to him as my personal savior !!!

Best

Did you try ordering from Leisuregames of London, UK? (
http://www.leisuregames.com ) They offer international shipping at pretty
cheap rates.

Just go to E-bay's front page and type "shadowrun" in the search utility.

Wow! first time I've checked out e-bay there's Harlequin for 1$ (ONE DOLLAR)
do people normally find stuff like this on there like this or am I reading
something wrong.

p.s. I'm from South Africa, so the current exchange rate (around 1$US to
R10,00 SA) makes most purchases ridiculous. Plus rpg stuff is really
expensive.

Just enter "Shadowrun" in the search box, they're all over the place.

Usually the prices don't move until the last 24 hours of the auction
unless it's a really popular item - Denver, Lonestar, etc.

Most of the bidding happens in the last 15 minutes as people try to
snipe the auction.

Ebay is an auction site. So it will probably end up much more than $1

Games and Hobbies. Run a search for Shadowrun, and you'll usually find 3 or
4 pages...

As was already mentioned, the price is likely to slowly rise until about 1
hour before the end, at which point it will start to move quickly upwards,
and then shoot WAY up at the last 10 minutes or so. I have often lost ebay
auctions to someone overbidding me by 1 dollar in the last 5 seconds.

I generally hate to give away my sources, but since I adore
this shop so much, they deserve the business. Go to:

http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/my-zshop/S1OA9RMJBLGG9G

...if you prefer fixed prices. Search for "shadowrun", they've
got a few OOP SR items, though if you're shipping outside
the United States, you'll need to contact them for information
regarding shipping costs.

Wonderworld isn't the only seller on Amazon.com that offers
SR items, so search around and see what you can find. I got quite
a few items I was looking for from there.

There are also a few items in the Amazon auctions section; I haven't
ever bid on any, but it looks like they're mostly novels at present.

Hope this helps,

(eric)

According to Justin Bell, on Tue, 28 May 2002 the word on the street was...

Also, if the price does stay that low, you still might not get the item:
chances are that the seller set a minimum price, below which there is no
deal. So say everybody overlooks that copy of Harlequin, and it doesn't go
over US$2 -- but the seller wanted a minimum of US$10 for it, so you won't
get the item even though you bid the US$2...

Read through the terms of the auction carefully. Some sellers do not accept
international orders. Some only take certain methods of payment like Paypal
or Billpoint. Make sure you calculate the cost of Shipping and Handling,
and the cost of a Money Order or online payment. These can make a
reasonable purchase price turn unreasonable in a hurry, especially for
international purchases. Harlequin can easily get up to $60 US. I have
seen it go as high as $82 in one auction. Harlequin's Back and Universal
Brotherhood can usually be picked up for $30-$40. Tir Tairngire, Bug City,
Lone Star, and some of the other hard to find books also end up easily in
the $30+ range. Sometimes your best bet is to watch for lots of books.
Buying 6 to 12 books is sometimes the same price as the buying 1 book.
Occasionally one book in the lot is a real gem, easily worth buying the
other books to get. Watch out for snipers as well. These are buyers who
wait until the last few minutes of an auction to start bidding, driving the
price up and often out of range. I have been involved in bidding wars that
went down to the final seconds of an auction. They get pricey. I usually
select the option to "Watch this Item" (appears in the top right of the item
description), and make my first bid when there are 24 hours left. I try to
decide how much I want to spend ~including~ Shipping fees, and bid that
amount straight out. If the item is one I really want, I'll bid below my
maximum, and then watch it closely all the way to through the last 5 minutes
of the auction, bidding as necessary. I have managed to become the pleased
owner of every single Shadowrun book ever published through SR1 and SR2
using these mehtods. Good luck. :)

Which is surprising really, because most anachronisms find it very difficult
to use technological devices such as computers :-o

<ghostly voice of Alec Guinness>
"Use SR3 Kori."

<Radio>
"Her SR1 & 2 are off. Kori, You've switched off your SR2, is something
wrong?"

Seriously though, I'm in the middle of bidding for the first Harlequin and
Harlequin's Back I've seen on ebay UK, the price currently sitting at
<checks> $10 each (no that isn't a typo, they're in Cambridge and they're
selling in $, crazy.)

And to prove it can also be done another way, I bought all those same books
either new, or second-hand at conventions and in game stores. You don't
_need_ to use Ebay (or other auction sites) if you go to a few game
conventions a year, and don't want things right now :)

I don't think it should, but I'm not an admin. It wasn't UCE (someone
asked for purchase locations...), although he probably should have sent it
