Hoi Chummers,

Say, does anyone on this list actually live in Seattle? I'll be
heading up there shortly and ever since I started playing SR I've always
wanted to go there. But I'm strapped for ideas on what to do for the second
day after I compare Seattle 2060 to Seattle 2002. And does anyone know of
any shops with a good selection of SR material up there?
The WotC shop down here only carries SR3, SRComp, and New Seattle.

Nope, no one actually LIVES there... Are you kidding? It's a prop! Kinda
like the house from Leave it to Beaver and the Brady Bunch. There's just a
bunch of fake sets to look like a city...

Ok. I need sleep. Later. :]

Someone did four years ago, as I stayed at the house of a listmember from
Seattle (well, Renton) back in 1998, but I have no idea if he's still on the
list, or even plays SR anymore.

Can't help you there; my visit to the city consisted of arriving there halfway
through the day, going up the Space Needle, playing SR until fairly late at
night, and then getting on an airplane heading for home early in the morning :)

Hoi!
I'm in Seattle. I assume that you will be in the downtown area, so here
are some touristy things to.

1. Ride the Monorail.
The Monorail is really more of an amusement ride than transportation, but
there are plans to extend it to SR like proportions (see
http://www.elevated.org for more detail). Right now it runs from Westlake
Mall to the Seattle Center.

2. Go to the top of the Space Needle
Ya know ya wanna and if you take the Monorail your already there.

3. Ride the Duck
This is kind of hokey, but it does give you a look around the town. The
Duck is a tour of downtown and the waterfront in a WWII surplus amphibious
truck. It leaves from the base of the Space Needle and it'll show you why
every Rigger in Seattle needs access to a boat.

4. See the Underground Tour.
There really is an Underground City in Seattle although it gets smaller
every year. There is still enough left to see where the idea of the Ork
Underground came from. Tours start in Pioneer Square.

5. Ride a Ferry
This is a great and cheap way to see Puget Sound. Take a ride on the car
ferry to Bremerton. You can buy a round trip walk on ticket to ride out
and back. The car ferry is much more fun than the passenger boat because
there is plenty of room to walk around and a snack bar. It will take a
couple of hours for the whole trip, but the scenery is great. A word of
caution though, DON"T GET OFF THE FERRY. There is nothing to see in
Bremerton except mud and a US Naval Base.

6. Go to the Cinerama
If you like movies, the Seattle Cinerama (http://www.cinerama.com) is
possibly the greatest theater still in operation. Restored by Paul Allen
of Microsoft fame (or as well call him, Mr. Luthor) it is truly a unique
experience. Right now they are showing Star Wars episode II with full
digital projection and sound. If you sit in the front row you can FEEL the
action as well as see it.

7. Eat some Sushi (shameless plug for my favorite restaurant)
Sam's Sushi on Queen Anne has the best Japanese food in town. It's a small
casual restaurant, but the sushi is first class.
- 521 Queen Anne Ave N - (206)282-4612

As far as Game Shops go, there really aren't any in the downtown area. The
WoTC megastore has closed and all the specialty shops with it. There is a
comic book shop at the Pike Place Market called Golden Age Collectibles
which carries RPG books, but I have no idea what their SR stock looks
like.

That should fill up a day for ya ;) I hope you have fun!

You do know that I am US Navy right? I'll probably just buy a one way from
Bremerton.

Cool. So see that again, along with Eight Legged Freaks.

Funny, I was told you couldn't swing a dwarf by the beard without hitting a
store that sold SR material in Seattle.

Well, see you on Thursday

I visited Seattle in 98 for the same reason. :-)

For Shadowrun related stuff, I'd recommend the Underground Tour (pick up a
copy of Sons Of The Profits while you're at it - a great read), a drive
down to Mt Rainier to picture what becomes the Puyallup Barrens, and a
visit to Dante's if it's still there (5300 Roosevelt Way NE) where you can
charm a waitress and pinch a menu to use as a game prop as I did. :)

Any chance you can get that scanned and posted on the 'net? That would
be a great prop.

I will instruct my Legions of Terror to attack the hero en

I agree. And just a few quick changes and it'll fit in perfectly with
SR. Or "scribble" some notes on it and it could actually be a clue.

Bulk trash will be disposed of in incinerators, not compactors.
And they will be kept hot, with none of that nonsense about
flames going through accessible tunnels at predictable intervals.
