Well, FireFly (remember her from that chain letter? :) is sitting next to
me, and we've been busy (no, it's not what you think :) designing a few
spells you might (not) like (delete as appropriate)
FF: No, there isn't a Chain Letter Spell yet... But hey, you've given me an
idea ;)

Addict To Me
This spell causes an addiciton to this spell in the subject. There are no
benefits whatsoever from this spell, only the disadvantage of being addicted.
The following refers to page 87 of Shadowtech. This spell causes a Mental
addiction. Addiction and Strength are both equal to the Force of the spell.
You cannot become tolerant to this spell, simply because it provides no
bonuses so there's nothing to become immune to. Use all normal rules for
addictions from Shadowtech.
The only way to get a "shot" of this spell is to have it cast upon you --
but it has to be at a Force equal to, or exceeding, the Force at which it
was originally cast onto you. You don't have to go to the person who
originally cast it on you, though.
This spell does not require a voluntary target.
Type: Mana Range: Limited Target: Willpower (R)
Duration: Permanent (20 turns) Drain: (F/2)D

Kick My Habit
This spell is the Antidote to the Addict To Me spell (above). If cast on
someone addicted to that spell the addic-tion is broken. You can't cast it
on yourself; the target number is the Force Rating of the original Addict To
Me spell.
Type: Mana Range: Touch Target: Force of Addict To Me
Duration: Permanent (20 turns) Drain: (F/2)S

Take this all seriously if you must, don't take it seriously if you want to,
anyhow she's got a fire extinguisher and isn't afraid to carry it around! :)

Gurth quotes from FireFly:

> Addict To Me
> This spell causes an addiciton to this spell in the subject.

Ooooh, I LIKE it.. My players will hate you, but I like it. >8->

The way I see this spell is as a manipulation spell with an illusion
side-effect.. What the target experiences is something like a Stimulation
spell on steroids, and THIS is the psychological addiction.

I haven't read the Shadowtech rules in awhile.. Is there any way to recover
from the addiction effects of this spell, besides the counterspell? There
should be more than one way around it.. Still, there's terrific plot
potential in an NPC with this spell.

Blessings, and Have Fun,

_TNX._

I supose this could be modified to any specific type of object.
Maby a small translucent plastic coin with adhesive on it. You could attach
to a person with a slap on the back, or make it very small and hide it in
their food/drink. Then trace them. Nicely done.

I'm giggling just thinking about this one.
How about modifying it to Sneeze or Itch.

You could always just summon a spirit and have them cause the "accident" with
the power of the same name.

You could make that one into an clutter headware memory spell
combined with a control emotions (hate) against the caster :) :)

[spell deleted]

Oh no, the influence of FireFly in this spell is obvious :) She
should see the Tickle-spell from one of the other posts. Give that
one to her PBEM-char, Gurth :).
Although I can think of some uses for this spell (cast it on your
fixer to get discounts for your gear :), the drain is to high
to make it truly usefull (I have the feeling that wasn't the intention
anyway :)

You could rewrite this one in a "kick my habit for any drug" and then it
would even have his uses :)

Aha, so that's what was in that enormous backpack of her :)

Not to mention the sudden urge to write emails to whoever gives him/her
legitimate matrix access :)

She wanted her own version (I didn't even notice somebody else made a spell
like that...) but I told her to get some Karma first. I might make an
exception, though (or am I showing my newly-discovered bias toward her here? :)

Yep. Mostly to prevent you from casting it on yourself, if I understood FF
correctly.

Nah. Just an antidote for the Addict To Me spell.

That was actually the one thing she didn't bring along. We did use such
sophisticated tools as a tourist map, a keyring compass, and general
guesswork to navigate through Den Haag (nearly got lost in a forest, BTW :)

That would hardly be appropiate for a mage, come on Gurth this is a
/serious/ attemp at spell design ;) . The victim should get a sudden
urge to write complaints to the teacher of the mage (or the totem of
the shaman :).

That's scary, an addict with free access to his or her own drug. This
could be a mayor problem for a magician on a run; he will cast the
spell so many times that he will get knocked out from drain, or
otherwise walk around with four to six boxes in stun damage.

Didn't you suggest in one of your other posts that the spell
also works for "normal" addictions?

I think you've seen the result of what a serious interlude can do to a
person (or two persons, actually) -- let's not start it here too :)

>That's scary, an addict with free access to his or her own drug. This

That was more or less the idea: if you get the spell for yourself, you risk
knock-out every time you cast it, especially of course if you've been
addicted for some time (with the reduced damage boxes and everything). Of
course this also means that, if you addict someone to your spell, you have
to face that same Drain every time you give someone what they need...

[Kick My Habit]
>Didn't you suggest in one of your other posts that the spell
>also works for "normal" addictions?

I don't think I did. If I did, I was wrong -- it's the exact opposite: you
can get rid of the Addict To Me spell addiction like you can get rid of any
other drug, but Kick My Habit only works against Addict To Me. What I think
I said was that maybe we could design another spell that works against
normal drugs in a similar way...
