Wait a sec! 4-5 hour sessions? Do you get anything done in that time? I
mean, if I told my players that we could play for...say 8 hours, they'd
laugh at me

Hell, we spend four hours telling dirty jokes, before we even start
playing...

Isn't that the truth. Our average session is 6- 8 hours.
And the "adventure" usually take 2-4 sessions.
Somehow we get side tracked (don't ever try playing during
football season :))
Breaks for dinner are allowed though. :)

Well, we tend to start at something between 1600 and 2200 and end...well
between 0900 and...2200...

It -can- be done, it is just only done by the "hard core" players...

We do that during game play at times...unless I lose my patience of course ;)

Lots can be accomplished in that amount of time..When I had my
regular group that was our standard session time as well..Some times
it makes it a bit harder to get through a module..but that means your
$ to enjoyment time ratio goes way up..

> Hell, we spend four hours telling dirty jokes, before we even start
> playing...

That is one of the first things that goes when you have a limited
amount of time to play in..jerk around time is out the window..Not to
say that it is eliminated..htat is of course impossible..but it is
cut way down in the interest of all...And some of us oldtimers simply
don't have the concentrated time off to to pull a 12 hour gaming
session..
look at it like this..conventions only sched 4 hour slots..and look
at the amount of gaming gets accomplished in that time...

Heck, i've done it in two hours for small runs and all nighters starting in
the morning of the first day only stopping for food(apart from munchies)
which ended up to be ordered pizza and toilet stops.

Can't remember a damn thing though, we also drunk a hell of alot!

All i know is in the morning we all had 10 more Karma!

Agreed... We were by no means serious at GC during ANY of the Tourney
Rounds... We were having a ball... But I also think we got a LOT of the
game done, and pulled off a lot of RP :]

Of course, we abused poor Granite... But I think he enjkoyed it as much as
we did :]

Yeah, but you need four times as many sessions....:)

I once even reduced one players karma-awards, as he nearly made the rest of
the group vomit...:)

Absolutely..it is afterall..supposed to be fun...

WIthout a doubt..Truth is..I ended up having to improvise some things
since things were going so smoothly..And in all cases the groups came
up with unique ways out of situations..that took me completely by
surprise..I had not anticipated some of these solutions even
remotely..But I was able to get around my surprise fairly well...ANd
keep things flowing..

>Of course, we abused poor Granite... But I think he enjkoyed it as

It was a blast..A very good time was had..the only drawback for me
was..I missed the rest of GenCon..I was working every round of the Ed
tourney as well as the SR tourney.. I was thinking the other day about
how to discribe the Mana storm..And then it hit me..rather that raw
devestation..something more like "My Science Project"...I just wish I
had thought of it while I was writing that sequence...

Oh, please! Don't remind me! If I could get a grilfriend who played in my
group *and* get money for roleplaying....

Then again, that'd be boring...

We optimised that. We play until we are 30 minutes before falling asleep,
to everybody can drive home. My back still hurts when I remember the time I
had to sleep in two old armchairs after a session...Have you ever tried to
sleep while some idiot plays Manowar tapes?!?

I think that was after 25 1/2 hours of constant gameing....;)

Well, how much we get done depends on the mood we're in. We've
spent an entire session once doing nothing but planning a run.
Needless to say, our karma award for the session was... below
average. :-)

Oh, we used to be pretty bad. We start at 6 or so (so everybody
can get off work/out of school) and we used to go until 2-3 am.
It was kinda hard on those who had to go to work early the next
morning though, so we eventually sped things up.
