I've a couple questions which I've been pondering for quite some
time. The first one is if a human and an elf get together, can they have
kids? What about a Troll and Orc? What if I have a player who does BTL all
the time and so he gives me the delima of a Troll and a Human?
Then there's the other thing. I've been wondering for a long time
where Earthdawn fits into the scheme of things. As far as I can tell it was
somewhere due to the fact that so many references to metals and creatures
which are explicitly detailed in the Earthdawn book. I haven't gotten Har.
Back or any of the adventure supplements, but anybody got any good ideas for
me as to the entire thing?

GM's discretion.

Where does ED fit in? Ok, in short, Shadowrun is the sixth world, we are
currently in the fifth world and ED is the fourth World.

Ah.. well that explains a little. How about, does anybody know if
when the magic level reaches a certain point Windlings, Tskrang, and
Obsidimen will appear? Since Horrors were creatures from.. well.. i don't
know where they were from.. but could there be a scourge in shadowrun?
That'd be fun to play around with.. hmm..

(You're new to the list, I can tell :)

The answer to this is on page 34 of any SRII book. In shorthand:
human + metahuman = metahuman
human + elf/dwarf = elf/dwarf
human + ork/troll = ork/troll
elf/dwarf + ork/troll = ork/troll.

Did that make any sense?

Very simply, Shadowrun is the Sixth World according to the Mayan Long
Count calender, while Earthdawn is the Fourth World. Even-numbered worlds
have a high mana level, odd-numbered ones have a low one. So, very simple,
ED is about 7,000 years before SR an in the same timeline. For a subtle
spoiler, look on page 63 of the A Killing Glare adventure (written by...
yes, the ED line developer).

Windlings: check Paranormal Animals of Europe: the sprite is obviously a
windling.
Obsidimen: well, with all this mining going on I wouldn't be surprised to
find many a liferock having been broken to tiny bits...
T'Skrang: well, erm, I don't know where they come from (humans or lizards
subject to a high mana level?) but either the mana level isn't high enough
for them, or the lizard they originate from has died out. Or some other
explanation :)

That would NOT be fun to play around with. As it goes, Carl Sargent really
seemd to have liked the idea of Horrors and was busy steering SR into that
direction before he stopped wanting to be SR line developer. Mike
Mulvihill seems to have a quite different take on things, and wants
Horrors to stay away from the world as much as possible (and most gamers
seem to agree with this view).
