ShadowGM INFORMATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(created 8/2/95)
ADDRESS: shadowgm@******.residence.gatech.edu
MAINTAINER: S.F. Eley (sf@******.residence.gatech.edu)
DISCLAIMER: Shadowrun and its related official supplements are trademarks
of FASA (Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration), and
are copyrighted by FASA. All rights to said products are
considered to be reserved by FASA; this list is _not_
officially sanctioned by FASA or any other organization.
List subscribers own, and are responsible for, their own
communication on this list. The list maintainer(s) take no
responsibility for copyright violation, trademark violation,
or any other violation of State or Federal laws.
1.) LIST PURPOSE
~~~~~~~~~~~~
ShadowGM is an electronic mailing list for Gamemasters of the Shadowrun
role-playing game. It provides an open forum for GM's to share campaign
information, adventure ideas and experiences, and to discuss issues related
to creating a game world in Shadowrun.

2.) SUBSCRIBING AND UNSUBSCRIBING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To SUBSCRIBE to ShadowGM, send mail to
majordomo@******.residence.gatech.edu
with the words "subscribe shadowgm" on the first line of the message body.
To UNSUBSCRIBE to ShadowGM, send mail to
majordomo@******.residence.gatech.edu
with the words "unsubscribe shadowgm" on the first line of the message
body.
To receive ShadowGM in DIGEST FORMAT, and receive messages once per day
instead of individually, subscribe to the special list shadowgm-digest.
(Send mail to majordomo@******.residence.gatech.edu with "unsubscribe
shadowgm" on the first line and "subscribe shadowgm-digest" on the
second.)
Majordomo has other useful commands related to the mailing list. Send mail
to majordomo@******.residence.gatech.edu with "help" on the first line of
the
message body to find out more about them.
3.) SENDING MAIL
~~~~~~~~~~~~
To post a message to the list, mail your message to
shadowgm@******.residence.gatech.edu. The list tag (GM) will be prepended
to the Subject: line to identify the message's origin, and your message
will be automatically sent to all subscribers.

Replies to messages on the ShadowGM list go to the entire list by default.
If you wish to privately respond to a message on the list, forward your
response to the author's e-mail address (which can be obtained from the
message header, and usually from the person's signature.)

4.) USING SHADOWGM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All information posted to ShadowGM is considered "public domain," unless
specifically stated otherwise by its author. In general, subscribers to
this list should feel free to incorporate campaign ideas, adventures,
background material or any other ShadowGM information into their own
Shadowrun campaign. Some may wish to adapt the ideas presented on this
list
directly into player adventures; others may find the list useful primarily
as a source for rumors, news stories, and other background filler in their
own campaign. The list may also be used to discuss Gamemastering
experiences, review FASA's published modules and provide tips for playing
them, and other related issues.
Please note that this list is NOT to be used for rules questions, proposals
for equipment, archetypes, et al., or other general discussion about the
Shadowrun game and its supplements. Another list, ShadowRN, exists for
that
purpose. To subscribe to ShadowRN, send mail to listserv@***.surfnet.nl
with "SUBSCRIBE SHADOWRN <your name>" in the first line of the message.
More information can be found on the World Wide Web at
http://www.ip.net/shadowrun.
5.) LIST MEMBERSHIP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ShadowGM is intended for Shadowrun Gamemasters, but subscription is open to
anyone who finds the list interesting and/or useful. However, for
Shadowrun
players whose GM's also read this list, we ask you to take note of the
following advisory:

ShadowGM contains adventure, campaign, and background information that your
Gamemaster may or may not choose to implement. If this material is used in
your campaign, your GM may wish for you not to have prior access to the
information. You should inform your GM that you are on this list, and
follow
his or her advice on whether you should continue reading it. Having prior
knowledge of campaign or adventure information that your character could
not
know is very damaging to the role-playing experience. Please maintain
trust
with your GM and ask him or her about using this list.

6.) LIST POLICIES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A. RESPECT COPYRIGHT. This refers both to FASA's products and to any
other information posted to this list or pulled from the Internet or
elsewhere. Mostly we just ask that you cite the source when quoting
something, and don't copy huge amounts of text verbatim. (It's less
work for everybody if you simply let us know where to get it.)
B. *NO FLAMING*. The people who post here are sharing their own creative
work, into which they put a great deal of time and personal energy.
Respect the effort that people have invested in their campaigns and
and adventures, and appreciate that they have chosen to share it with
you. Use constructive criticism if you must criticize, and don't make
negative responses unless the author has asked for them. Any
harassment
on the list will be dealt with very quickly and very permanently.
C. STICK TO TOPIC. The "List Purpose" and "Using This List" sections
above
give guidelines for determining what's on-topic for this list.
Anything
else is technically off-topic, but will be tolerated as long as it
contributes to issues related to the list's purpose. The maintainer(s)
of the list are the final arbiters of topicality for the list; any
threads that remain off-topic, or detract from the list's purpose, will
be asked to direct themselves to a more appropriate forum.
D. RESPOND SENSIBLY. If you can respond to a person's message without
quoting it, do so. If you find it useful to quote their message, quote
ONLY the parts that are relevant to your response, and try to trim the
message as much as possible. Don't make responses that are totally
irrelevant to the discussion at hand, and if your response is of
interest to an individual rather than the whole list, forward it to
that person, rather than the entire list.
E. LISTEN TO THE MAINTAINER. Other rules and policies may be required as
the list progresses; in cases where there is conflict or confusion,
the list maintainer is the final arbiter. Disagreement with the
maintainer about list policies should be handled by calm, rational
debate, or by voluntary unsubscription.
Serious or repeated violation of these policies will result in the
temporary or permanent removal of the violator, at the list maintainer's
discretion.
7.) FOR MORE INFORMATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For more information about ShadowGM, either subscribe to the list or mail
S.F. Eley (sf@******.residence.gatech.edu), who will cheerfully answer any
questions or resolve any difficulties concerning the list.

Sorry, but I have no clue as to where NERPS is. I sent the ShadowGM
address,
but I haven't recieved anything in weeks though they did say it was a much
quieter list than ShadowRN.

This info comes from a search of shadowrun at www.liszt.com (BTW this
is an excellent search site for mailing list topics).

You can mail a request for an "info" file to the server address,
majordomo@**.ed.net. Put this single line in the mail message:

info shadowgm

You can get a general "help" file from that server by mailing this
single line:

help

to the same server address, majordomo@**.ed.net. This should also give
you instructions on how to join (or leave) the group.

There is a list for GMs; I'm not sure about the current address towhich
subscribe messages should be sent, as I think it's changed at least twice
since I joined (which was right after it got started, around *checks
folder* mid-September 1995). The only FAQ I have is hopelessly out of
date, and I'm not even sure the guy who set up the list is even still
subscribed to it...

After all this useless babbling, I might even try to give some useful
advice :) The list address is shadowgm@********.stucen.gatech.edu, so I
guess the subscription address is something in the order of
majordomo@********.stucen.gatech.edu.

NERPS is easy.
You just do exactly what you did for Shadowrn, but use nerps instead...
