ShadowManiacs' origins lie with my own hand. The verse, in its primordial
form, was titled "FASA Maniacs" yet I elected upon the evident alteration
this in light of Hayden's rather insightful observation that a more
meticulous characterization of the host collected in this virtual milieu
would be that they are enthusiasts of ShadowRun rather than of the company
which produces such per se.

Following said modifications, Hayden praised the product of my labors,
then inquired as to whether or not the spirit of the Muse was sufficient
to vouchsafe unto us an similarly apropos transmogrification of "American
Pie."

J. D. Falk proffered for public pondering an incomplete first verse,
/sans/ chorus. I cannot recollect rightly as to whe'er or not there were
other entrants into this impromptu match to modify modern madrigals, but
my efforts were, I recollect, the only complete version.

Of course, Hayden, in his own inestimable style, wondered aloud as to
whether a similar treatment of the "Ballad of the Edmund Fitzgerald"
were possible. If in that time I did not THWAP him soundly, I certainly
should have essayed to do so.

Perhaps, MC23, rather than merely contradicting my declaration, you could
elucidate as to your recollection of said events?

The song was originally entitled FASAmaniacs -- in evidence to this fact
is the point that in the second verse, I neglected to change 'FASA' to
'Shadow,' and this oversign upon my part has been replicated in the FAQ.

I freely admit the possibility of a lack of precise certainty in my
narrative. Such is only pragmatic; the events deliniated were
approximately three years in the past. Hitherto it had been my
impression that the recommendations for alteration were authored by
Hayden; however, I may be in error.

Would you kindly disabuse the current narrative of this parody's history?

Oh, I don't think he's disputing the story Herr Doktor. He's amazed that
you spelled it ShadowRun.

Apparently everyone from Adam J. to the DLOH are violently insistent that
it be spelled "Shadowrun." No capitalized "R."

I can't claim to be a fan of it either, but as I recall, that was a conceit
of yours from day one.

Or rather I shall shed light on what was really the focus of my
reply. You have just crossed FASAMike's pet peeve #1 above all else,
capitalization inside words (that's left to the BattleTech line). It is
simply Shadowrun with just the capital S. After Mike got all wound up
about it, the list got a little watchful of our capitalization habits.
Watching you do it became highly amusing to me for that reason even
though I did not expected you to know of those events.

And verily, did Doctor Doom hastily scribble thusly...

Oh, THAT.
THat's just one of Mike Mulvihills pet peeves.
Said Dark lord on high doth incredibly dislike the use of a capital "R" in
the center of the word Shadowrun, forsooth, it is but one word....

I firmly believe that this with the situation Mr 23 was attempting to
elucidate....

Thus, by some incalculably unfeasable logic, he envisioned a completely
different game to that of Shadowrun....

<Hmmm... This mode of enunciation doth grow on me.....>
