ARe there, or have there ever been plans for a shadowrn comic/cartoon/film ?
There is a kid's program that is entirely computer generated and I thought that
if this was used for the Matrix side then there would be some mind-blowing
scenes. Evena comic could use coputer stills alongside more traditional styles.

Yeah, a friend of mine is planning to do a one-shot comic based on a
campaign we're in (he was, I am). He's an art student, so he may
actually try to finish it, just to see how it turns out. It's not a bad
idea, and I'd like to help him if I have time.

I talked to Tom Dowd and he said that New Line Cinema had optained the
rights for making a full motion picture. How long it will take and how good=

the movie will be is a suprise to me.

As far as I know, FASA has got a BattleTech cartoon out at the moment (it
isn't showing over here (yet), so I can't say what it's like), and,
according to Sam Lewis, Shadowrun would be the next game they'd do something
with (if ever, I guess). No firm plans as yet, I believe.

If a Shadowrun cartoon (as in a TV show) was made, I doubt it would be s
something any of us would like... I mean, you're not allowed to shoot
people with automatic weapons and see them collapse in a spray of gore
on TV cartoons. And without big guns and violent death, what's the
point of Shadowrun? :)

People who were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans -before- the cartoon came
out have shown me some of the old comic books... very violent, not just
your cute-turtles-doing-ninja-flips kinda thing...

A Shadowrun movie, on the other hand, would be cool.. especially now that
special effects have just about reached the point where they can do
panzers/magic/Matrix justice.

I doubt if a Shadowrun movie would be something I'd want to see. My bet is
that the whole thing would be grossly distorted compared to what most of us
see as "real" Shadowrun, especially if it were made in Hollywood. I can
imagine them chucking out all sorts of things, like cyberware -- ever notice
that in most movies, only the bad guys get cybered? IMO they're saying
"cyberware is bad, as it makes you less human." Watch that Christopher
Lambert movie set in the underground prison (I forgot the name :) Only the
evil guards and staff have cyberware, all the "good" citizens don't... And I
believe a Shadowrun movie/cartoon/something would be quite similar...

Not if it were a directorial partnership between Quentin
Tarentino and John Woo...

IMHO FASA ought to get William Gibson to write the screenplay for it. From
all reports his film version of his how short story 'Johnny Mneumonic' are
excellent. BTW: Anyone know when its due out???
