Those rumors probably never went up the shadows. That's just vastly
underestimating the PR power of megacoprs and their grip on the mass media.
Aztechnology is like this by the book, bad rep in the shadows, virgin as a
daisy petal for the average Joe Grunt. Who would take seriously someone who
claims that General Motors upper management is conducting massive human
sacrifice to power some weird and filthy magic ? Nah, that's what you get
when you chip to many BTLs...
As for Lofwyr roasting traitors, I guess that for most megacorps,
spying/national treachery is among the most serious crimes, often leading
to death penalty. It's just a different way to do it, but all mega's
employees live with this Damocles sword above their heads.
