Well, obviously it'd have to have the Shadowrun logo on it. Maybe on a
sleeve have the year... ooh, short or long sleeves? I like short, black
t-shirts.

Ooh, I just had an ideaT!!!

Make several designs (increased cost, I know, but hear me out). On the front
of the t-shirt, use the cover of one of the "archetype books" (MitS, VR2.0,
RBB3, CC and the SR3 book). On the back, you could have one of the bits of
shadowtalk that people thought represented that aspect of Shadowrun the
best.

Hell, I like that idea so much, I might have to find out if making them for
myself is okay or not and do that...

Front: Dunkie for Prez (small breast pocket sized)

Back: I am not a runner

I shall ahve to go home and dig up my books for a bunch of dates and names,
I'm sure I'll have more to submit tomorrow.

I thought about it some more, and I'm willing to do the 2003 ShadowRN
T-Shirts, with the following stipulations.

I will be using Cafe Press (www.cafepress.com), for the following reasons.

1. I won't have to do the math and guessing to break even. Last time I got
very lucky and broke even. Previous ShadowRN T-shirt producers weren't so
lucky. My family increased by one this year (Sam is 10 months old now) and
I can't afford to go bust. With Cafe Press I can just accept the base
price (no profit for me, but I don't care).

2. It will cut *way* down on the work load. Last time I had to find a
shirt screener, work with the screener, purchase a *lot* out of pocket up
front, package, and mail all of the orders. On the one hand it was a labor
of love, on the other hand I don't want to do that again.

3. I won't have to deal with preorders. People will be able to go to the
Cafe Press shop and order shirts at their leisure.

4. People won't have to worry about missing an arbitrary order deadline (Hi
Adam! ;).

5. Cafe Press makes a good product. I am the proud owner of a PvP
(www.pvponline.com) T-shirt, and can attest to the quality of the shirt and
the printing job.

6. I can offer more than just a T-shirt. Cafe Press would allow me to
offer ShadowRN mouse pads, coffee mugs, fleeces, thongs, etc.

7. I can offer more than one design. It should be easier to please the
majority.

8. Cafe Press's products are affordable.

There is a downside. Cafe Press offers two colors for T-Shirts: white, and
ash gray. Black T-shirts aren't an option. On the one hand, you'll stand
out at GenCon like a sore thumb, but on the other hand you'll be able to
perform Shadowruns in public ;)

That being said, I am more than willing to design the graphics and take
responsibility for getting everything set up with Cafe Press, permission
from WizKids permitting.

Opinions? :)

Do they ship outside the US (like, say, to France :-))? If so, how much
does it cost?
Yeah, I want one of these but as geeky as I may be, I'm still not ready to
pay $100 for a T-shirt...

By the way, here's a couple of suggestions:
FRONT: Shadowrun logo
BACK: "We've got what it takes to take what you've got"
(this one is not from me but I don't remember where I saw it)

FRONT: SR logo, "IC, dead people..."
BACK: "...Jack into the Matrix."

IIRC some fun slogans for Saeder-Krupp T-shirts were also suggested here
about a year ago... Perhaps you could use one of those...

thongs? Do you want to be responsible for the one showoff at a gencon?
*shudder*

OK, so Its not just me and/or Gencon UK. Black leather trenchcoats are a
fashion accessory, but when 2/3 people are wearing them in a crowded
convention hall, you do start to wonder if you came to the right con..;-)

If its easier for you, and hence likelier to get made, I say go for it. I
guess I'll have to order from the US. Its not the first time..:-)

A most excellent idea! :-)

PS: With the new "SR Duels" and the list t-shirt idea, I haven't seem
traffic like this on ShadowRN since 1998!

I just found out today that my local Kinko's can do t-shirts for $20 a pop.
You take the image in, they screen it and press it to a t-shirt. Any t-shirt
you like, any size. That's the price for using an 11x17 graphic, too.

Anyway, cafepress is well known, and I've used them before so I don't have
any problems. I think the biggest problem will be getting permission to use
the Shadowrun logo, unless it's the one from the website.

The Shadowrun internet policy does not cover making t-shirts. ;-)

Would it be possible to use one of the logos? And if so, would we
use the 3rd ed "Super 'S'" logo or the 1st/2nd ed Tech-scroll/Skull logo?
(Personally I prefer the 1st/2nd ed logo)

And if you are going to do that Primative Deckers, I preffer not to
use my work address (since it'll be inactive in about 6 months or so), so
I'll offer up my alternate addy, hottabushi@*******.com or my handle,
TimeKeeper.

I know I could wear a shirt like that around here (well, San Diego
area anyway) but I'm not so sure about my next command...

And why is it that list-traffic has only *really* kicked in after someone

The Toy/game line fired it up and then somebody thought to add to
the fire by mentioning T-Shirts. I considered more gasoline by saying
the W word but I don't have that much free time any more.

CafePress T-shirts would cost $13.99 for the white, $14.99 for the ash
gray, plus shipping and handling.

This would only change if I needed to increase the price to fund T-Shirts
for WizKids. Traditionally we have provided shirts for the Shadowrun Line
Producer and some of the other Shadowrun staff.

They do a longsleeve, admittedly it's white but I'd rather have a white
longsleeve than a white shortsleeve.
And your trenchcoat will cover it up when you don't want anyone to know
you're a Shadowrunner... Oh hang on, that doesn't work does it :-)

Adam, a question.
If I were to take the Shadowrun Logo and remove the "u" (Just as an example
you understand <Grin>); would that count as breach of copyright (or
whatever you call it with registered trademarks?)
It would get us a Shadowrn logo (close enough to a ShadowRN logo :-) )
without breaking the rules if it wouldn't.

Trademarks and copyright are two entirely different things. You can
trademark but not copyright a logo or name. The written word, audio/video
recordings, etc, are covered by copyright. [Vastly simplified. I am not a
lawyer.]

Such a modification without permission would be a breach of trademark.

I know the answer to that one: yes, it would count as a breach of
copyright. Not because of the similarity between Shadowrun and ShadowRN,
but because the graphic for the "S" is also copyrighted/trademarked/whatever.

Take out the "u", replace the "r" with an "R", replace the
"S", and use a
different font and different colors, and you should be good to go.
