I've heard this rumored about, but I've never heard anything solid, like
projected release dates or even if it was a reality. Can anyone help me out?

According to the guys who went to Gencon, it is set to be released
at this year's Gencon. (Which I think is in august).
But considering FASA's been at least a month or two behind their
projected release dates lately.....
Oh also, your REplyto field is overriding the list.

Yes, it's a reality. FASA has said it will be out at GenCon 98, which is
early August.. And they are hard at work at it, from what I understand, so
I think we can be optomistic about the release date, unless they change
their minds and push it back a bit.

With a lot of companies not attending GenCon, this is a good chance for
FASA to really shine and look good if they release SR3 at GC and do a good
job of it.. :)

Is anybody on this list going to GenCon? Unless I'm mistaken, FASA will
have special edition copies of SR3 available ONLY at GenCon, and I'd really
like to get my hands on one; problem is, there is simply no way I can do
it. I'll be lucky if I can go to ComiCon in August, and that's only
because it's a few hours away in San Diego.

Anyone?

Well - if I go to GenCon and score a preview copy, it's mine, mine,
mine! :) (And shucks - I'm an East Coast boy, we'll never bump heads -

Speaking of Scanning stuff...

Is it legal to scan stuff from an out of print book (such as Rigger Black
Book; the original) and post some of it to a Web Site....

Mike got a new flatbed scanner and we are thinking of something
interesting...especially in conjunction with the CAD programs...

I know that some of Fasa's products have disclaimers on the bottom that give
you permission to photocopy (most notably Battletech RecordSheets), I'd
assume this would apply to scanning to. Although the posting of these scans
may prove a problem. The already mentioned Battletech ones say for personal
use. I'd check to see if you can find that disclaimer, or send a very nice
E-mail to Fasa <G>

Well, I'd really like to go and however I dont' know much about it. I'm one
of the few (very few) serious gamers around the area so I haven't heard any
info, could someone send me or post the info like times, date, places,
prices(?). Plus, I've never been to a GenCon (or any other *Con) what is it
like?

I've heard the same... unreliable sources and all. It should be a VERY
interesting event. Is WoTC showing up?
I haven't heard anything concrete yet but I assume they will.

[Reiterating stuff that has been said :]]

SR3 is a project planned for August, this year. It is to premier at Gen Con.

It will update the Rigging and Decking Rules to use Rigger 2 and VR2.0, as
well as at least a touch up on the magic section. It may be completely
redone from scratch, or just a few modifications made. Right now Steve
Kenson and FASA are working out the details and keeping the details hush
hush :]

Also most of everything else will be updated since the book is currently 6
years old. Seattle Sourcebook is also gettinga facelift, as is the GM screen.

There will be a "Starter" adventure set sold, tentatively called "Milk
RUn"
right now, I believe... Something to help new GMs and players get into the
game.

There will probably be a new Gun Book called the Cannon Companion, updating
and compiling the former weapons/gear books (FoF and SSC).

There will be a new Magic Book (Probably not called Grimmy 3). This will
most likely compile Awakenings and the Grimmy, along with other stuff, and
have the new magic rules...

After that we will probably see other updated books, especially compilation
books... Stuff like the Shadowtech and Cybertech compiled together...

Bsically, besides the fact that stuff needs updated, the reasoning for the
new books isn;t so much to make us older players buy a bunch of new
products, but to make life easier for new gamers. Right now, to have all
the "main" sourcebooks, you have to buy: BBB, SSC, FoF, Grimmy,
Awakenings, Rigger 2, VR2.0, Shadowtech, Cybertechnology (I think I missed
one or two). Plus there is other tech, gear, and magic scattered
throughout various sourcebooks. It really is way too much to expect a new
GM/Player to buy...

Also, as a note to those people expecting it to be delayed... Mike and
Crew are working REALLY hard on this project... In fact, if stuff has been
getting pushed back recently, that's because SR3 is Mike's top priority
right now... I fully expect it at GC98 :]
