I wonder if this was where FASA got the idea for Aztlan's name.

A seperate Latino state where:

'According to Miguel Perez, mechista of Cal State Northridge, "The ultimate
ideology is the liberation of Aztlán. ... Non-Chicanos would have to be
expelled. ... Opposition groups would have to be quashed because you have
to keep the power."' (nice and scary, that)

Called Aztlan! And the organization pushing it is called MEChA!

Sounds like it's a bunch of SR and Battletech players who thought of this :)

AZTLAN (Az-tlan'), n. The ancestrial home of the AZTECS before the migration
in A.D. 1168 to Anahuac in the Valley of Mexico. Aztlan, which means "place
of the cranes," was the origin of the archaic word, AZTEC.

That was about the simplest method of reply I can think of. Bravo.

Augustus: Ah, cool, thanks! I was wondering about that.

Boondocker: Yeah, I laughed at the Battletech similarity, too. Talk about
irony.

This guy Villaraigosa's one of the frontrunners for the Democratic
nomination for Mayor of LA. It's not inconceivable that he could win. Of
course, he was also involved with the Clinton Pardongate scandals, but
that's another story.

Damn, forgot to unlurk! :-)
