Shadow run Computer Games.

>>>>Also, are there any SR computer games out there? I've played the sega and
snes games, but haven't found any others.

Try getting the Syndicate Plus CD rom classic. Most places sell it for about 10-20
bucks and while It's nowhere near as complex as SR it is rather amusing to research
weapons and technology. Build Cybered agents and have them walk around with
Miniguns wasting agents and scum... for the price it's a pretty good deal. Even
better if you a) have a network and B) have friends who can play it against you.

I just read in the paper that Microprose is working on Mechwarrior III. It
said and I quote 'Microprose will publish five Mech titles including
MechComman-der, Battle Tech: The Elementals, and two Shadowrun titles'.
Stupid paper has no idea what it is talking about (or is this a link
between MechWarrior and SR like the ED/SR links?) Now I know that FASA
interactive is working on some Shadowrun computer games, but are these the
same ones, or are they a different couple of games? If they are different
(or even if they are the same thing), does anyone out there know anything
about these games? What will they be about etc?

Ray.

I doubt that, since it's pretty obvious (to me, anyway) that the BT and
SR/ED universes are not the same.

Maybe it's like some other games brought out by MS, Close Combat for
instance. From the intro screen to that one, it seems some other company
did the actual game design and programming, and MS published it. It could
very well be that the same thing is happening here -- FASA Interactive
designs the game, and MS sticks it onto a CD-ROM, to take advantage of the
MS name (though how well that will work with you lot out there is open to
debate :) much like how everyone is letting WotC bring out CCGs for their
games, instead of doing it themselves.

hum ... Bigger companies have been known to publish games created by
smaller companies. That has nothing, or not much, to do with "using
the company's name", it's only logical, and cost-efficient, that small
companies use the larger companies larger distribution channels.

BTW, I think you misread the company's name, Its Microprose, makes are
very good simulation games, not Microsoft! :)

There have been two Shadowrun arcade games, on (IIRC) the Super Nintendo
and some Sega machine (Master System, I think; note to Americans: that
thing is _not_ called the Genesis over here, in case you know the name I
can't remember ATM).

I've played one of them a few times on an emulator on PC (I think it was
the Nintendo version), and it was not much more than walking around a city
collecting objects, solving puzzles, and "talking" to people. I never
finished it, though, as I tend to lose interest quickly in computer games.
It had pretty crap graphics, as I recall -- the kind I would have expected
on games on my old ZX Spectrum (but then, early Segas were Speccies in
disguise...) or on a C64.

Whether any of these two are still available, I don't know, but I guess
you have to look pretty hard to find them, since there have been new
generations of game consoles since these games came out.

Genesis. Super Nintendo.

No PC game - FASA Interactive was working on it, but it was shelved when
Microsoft bought FASA Interactive.

Also, please don't send HTML/RTF formatted email to ShadowRN - it's a
violation of the posting guidelines, as outlined in the FAQ (URL in .sig

- Shadowrun on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis, which I enjoyed a lot
- Shadowrun on the SuperNES, which I enjoyed even more, although it wasn't
conform to the rules.
- then there is supposed to be a game in the making (or maybe already
cancelled) called Shadowrun: The Assassin, which is for the PC.

Yeah, that was cancelled about the time that Microsoft bought FASA
Interactive. I recall something about that they already had a similar game
coming out but I've not heard of one yet. Assassin was suppose to be a
first person point of view shooter game (I believe) with a shadowrun
storyline. I'm happy that that was not the first Shadowrun game for the
PC. I'm hoping for more of a Shadowrun Baulder's Gate style game.

Not really. There is usually a dozen or so available on ebay at one time.

Yeah, dont know where your from, but you'll probably have a second hand
games store such as Computer Exchange here in England. They always have the
Shadowrun SNES game for about £5-10. The Megadrive game never got released
in England properly :-( but the American version is also avaliable if you
have the machine to run it on.

As I recall it from GenCon, it had to do both with a similar game being
closer to completion (though with computer games, you never can tell when
it will come out -- FASA's record is exemplary compared to that of many
computer game publishers) as well as it getting so far from Shadowrun that
Mike was debating whether or not to pull the plug himself.

From what I understand, it was more like a Tomb Raider clone.
