I was reading up on Deckmaster games (generic term fo Magic: The
Gathering type war-card-games), and they said that they are planning a
ShadowRun addition. There were no dates listed, but looking at their
future planned products, I'd assume it will be sometime in 1995.

This is FYI, only.

Now if I could just find a place to buy cards. ARGH!

"Trading card game" is the term they use.

WotC has a tentative contract with FASA to produce a Deckmaster game for
Shadowrun, probably very similar to the "Netrunner" game for CP2020 (which
is due out latter this year). R.Tal got to WotC before FASA did at GenCon
last year :).

Anyway, these games (Netrunner, Jyhad, whatever the Shadowrun game will be
called) are /not/ expansions to the Gathering, they are standalone games
using similar mechanics. They will most likely not be compatable with each
other--Jyhad certainly isn't compatable with the Gathering, though
Netrunner and Shadowrun might be compatable with each other.

Ack, my fault. I meant to say 'edition', not addition. Yes, the SR
version will NOT be compatible with M:tG, although industrious players
will probably fake it....

Also, I've attempted to signed up 2x for gg-l by sending to
listserv@*******.com, but have received no replies or anything. Is this
a manual process or is it automated?

Automated, and automatic digest, at least in my neck of the woods
(you're at Mankato and I'm in Nodak, so we shouldn't be that far apart
on the net). Be prepared for large burps of huge digests.

all this talk about MtG and other card based games gave me a crazy idea the
other night...

what if FA$A were to redo the matrix rules in card format...that way, the GM
could give the decker a bunch of cards, and let him entertain himself while
the GM handles the rest of the party...of course, the flaw here would be that
the GM would have to be able to trust the decker, but it might be interesting
to try...at the very least, the decker would be nervous flipping over the
next card in order to see if it's black ice or not....

It should be automated, but I hear-tell that the postmaster is hacking with
the code. Again. So there may be problems over the next few days.

This is /exactly/ what Netrunner is going to be.
