Does someone not fancy running a SR2 campaign by email, i'm sure their would
be a lot of interest.

I'm currently starting up a Ravenloft campaign and won't have the time to do it.

Cheers,

Matt Dunne.

I'm cloperator in the RPG club on Hellas On-Line BBS (my Net provider)
(hey- try it out - telnet hellas.hol.forthnet.gr, running MajorBBS) and I
want to start a PBEM (Play By e-mail) game, and I'll probably start
something were everyone has a corp and struggles to get MORE MORE MORE
(along the lines of Corporate Shadowfiles). I've heard of people playing
actual roleplaying games by email, but I think that would get too slow
(especially SR2, which isn't exactly one of the fastest systems I know).

What we do is play rpg sessions online, in the BBS's Teleconference. It's
a lot of fun, and you can do it practically every night if you want too.

I have a friend who plays a Vampire campaign via IRC. IMHO IRC is perfect
for roleplaying games. You can't see the other players, so there is no
preconceptions about them while they are in character. You can send
messages privately to the GM, who can then work out the mechanics
and announce them to the group. It was really neat.

I don't know how many of you have IRC access, but if anyone wants to get
an SR campaign online, I think that would be the way to go.

See ya,
Jason

You would have a problem if you're in widely different time zones, though.
Otherwise I agree: if you don't have to wait until the next day (or longer)
for the GM to reply to your message, it speeds up everything -- like I said
in a previous message, I ran a game on teh school network. Most of the time
it went by mail, but on a couple of occassions (when everyone was present)
we used the chat mode and made much more progress.

I'd be willing to GM it. I don't have much else to do currently or in the
near future, and I've run a Shadowrun game on the school network last year,
so I've got a bit of experience with PBEM-ing. If anyone's interested, let
me know. I won't play with more than about five or six characters because I
think it'd get too complicated very quickly, but otherwise I'm open to
pretty much anything. The whole thing'd be run via email and not as a MUD or
IRC or whatever, to make sure everyone has the chance to send in their
"moves" and to keep my phone bill down.

If you're interested, mail me a short description of the character you
intend to play (not full stats yet or anything), and I'll let you know what
I think. As I said, I don't intend to do large groups, but I do intend to
pick the most interesting (from my point of view) characters instead of the
first ones that reply (if any, of course :)

I've got two character concepts, a decker (of corporate upbringing, now
living on the streets), and a ganger come street samurai. Details follow:

The decker is one Eric Layweth, goes by the handle of Darkstar. He is the
son of two corporate scientists, and lived most of his life in a corporate
enclave (Ares Macrotech, to be precise). Fascinated by computers all his
life, he had flirted with the edges of the shadow community for some time
by the time his parents died in a botched "hostile extraction" arranged by
Mitsuhama. With few remaining ties to his former life, he left later that
week, at the age of 17.

A year later, he's managed to get a niche in the shadow community as a
minor-league decker, and has begun to move up in the shadow ranks. With a
solid background in computer science from his corp days, he has the
knowledge needed to build most of his own toys, which adds a lot to his
edge. He's considering joining a shadow team as a source of additional
income, as he's not good enough to earn much nuyen solo, and his parents'
estate is nearly gone.

-----------

The samurai is Rico Yawata, a young man of mixed Portugese-Japanese
descent. He runs with a second-league gang, but at 18 he's realising that
gangs are not the safest way to live. However, he lacks any skills that
would enable him to function in the corporate world, so he's turning to a
high-risk, high-return shot at breaking away from the streets:
shadowrunning. Lightly cybered (mostly with illegal demi-tech), he's a
competent combat guy. He knows the streets well, and has leadership skills
from his time with his gang. His opinions of life in the shadows are in for
a big disappointment, should he live long enough to find out the truth.

-----------

I would be willing to play either of these two charaters in a PBEM game.

I have IRC. I also have a lag of about 5 secs. (No wonder I never play
any MUDs). Try a traceroute to prometheus.hol.forthnet.gr and have some
fun at my expense.

But yeah, I'm VERY interested, if this happens, drop me a mail. It is
RUMORED that lines are getting better over here.

I wrote a while ago, that I have never played SR (that's also why I
hardly ever write to this list - I think this is my SECOND messeage...)
I don't even think there ARE any SR groups where I live :(
But the idea of playing it on irc sounds great - and about the only
chance I'll ever have of playing it...
I do have access, and for any who hasn't tried irc yet - it's the BEST!!
So, OF COURSE I want to try SR on irc!!!!
That is, if newbies are allowed (since, as I've said - I have never
played SR before).....

See you all on irc

there!)

Sounds nifty. I'm on IRC almost everynight (circa 9 pm EST) as Mal_2.
Any one else interesting in doing something like this? I don't have time
to run it, but I might be able to play..

Sounds like a good Idea to me.
