Heck, I'll put it to the list since I've seen others doing it. :o)

Good examples of team work and planning:
- Sneakers
- The Substitute (my strongest recommendation to my group)
- Heat

Atmosphere and Genre:
- Split Second
- The Crow (I & II)
- Strange Days
- Blade Runner
- Johnny Mnemonic
- The 5th Element
- Ghost in the Shell (as is most Japanim)
- Demolition Man
- Escape from New York/Escape from L.A.
- Terminator I & II
- Robocop

Though not really genre, I still like the feel from
Highlander...something 6th Worldish about it.

The Aliens series is good when pumping up for a Bug run. (Ihave a
feeling Starship Troopers will be even better when released.)

I also like Lawnmower Man as an example of the Matrix.

Hackers and The Net are good to fit in there somewhere too.

I'm sure there's even more I'm not thinking of...

Sorry to be replying to my own post, but I thought of a few movies
that I meant to add:

For Flavor and Genre:
- Total Recall
- Under Seige
- The Die Hard series
- Eraser
- Long Kiss Goodnight
- 1984

ThunderHeart is good for a look at action set in the AmerInd culture.

Also, William Shatner's TechWar series that was on TV for a while.

I haven't seen Riding Bean listed yet (also Anime). If you're going
to make a rigger rent this one. It's also a good example of a
(shadow)run for both GMs and Players.

It's set in Chicago as well. It is indeed the Shadowrun because...
Damn I would rather you people watch it then give away anything more.

WATCH IT!!!

I have this horrid feeling that Starship Troopers is going to suck
the big one. They dumped the powered armor in favor of more CG bugs
and copied the casting ideas from Space: Above and Beyond, another
dismal failure. I'm still going to see it though... Just like I saw
Highlanders 2 and 3, may God have mercy on my soul... ;)

Ooh! I just thought of a couple more movies: The Dirty Dozen and
Kelly's Heroes! They're both WW2 movies, but the stories can be very
SRish.

I thought Nick of Time, with Johny Dep gave a nice feeling of tension,
and I can see someone doing a similiar set up as pulled on Dep's
character in an SR- type setting.

How do you know? The trailer I saw was very vague.

How do I know? Hmmm...a big fragging, almost human looking, _bug_ doesn't
seem Srish to you?

Well, if I had seen that, I would agree. The trailer I saw was mostly
just dark corridor shots, grimaced faces, fires, and a few
explosions.

Like I said, very vague.

Hello. This is my first post. I've been lurking for a week or so. Good stuff,
BTW.
A little about myself: I've been playing RPGs for about twelve years,
primarily AD&D, but I've been Running the Shadows for about five years, now.

On to the topic:
I can't believe no one has mentioned From Dusk til Dawn. I've seen this movie
at least ten times(six in theaters) and I think it'd make a great Shadowrun
adventure, especially for the shock factor!! <BIG EVIL GRIN> I plan on
running my players through something VERY similar. :[~
Also Pulp Fiction (somewhat), Reservoir Dogs (a lot), and Jhonny Mnemonic (a
lot) are good idea-machines, especially for organization(the first two) and a
vision of the dark future, cyber included(J.M.). I made some rules up for a
Doubler, but seem to have lost them. Nice piece of work, though. I love
decking. My last character, now living in Denver, is a Dwarven Decker from
Jamaica, named Gimli. And he has a frame named Legolas. <g> He was a lot of
fun, mon! Speaking of Decking: Hackers and Sneakers are good..As is Tek
War(tv show)...Seriously!

Anyway, If I think of any other movies, and I'm sure I will, then I'll let
ya'll know.

BTW, The Assassin was the International title. I have a friend from Trinidad
and that's what it was titled there. I think it has something to do with
copyright infringements, but I'm not real sure.

Thanks and Adieu,
Gimli Gloinson, Dwarven Decker
