<checks through mail... realizes he's got 3 copies and decides to tell
everyone to stop before he gets 12 more>

Thanks everyone. I have what I needed. No need to send anymore.

Now here's another thing. I think I heard/read somewhere (Bull maybe?) that
Shadowrun was also RPGA. If this is true, how exactly does this work?
(In case you can't tell from my cluelessness, I also have a vague idea what
RPGA is)

TBH, I'm not 100% sure. But the basics are you create a character using specific RPG
Virtual Seattle rules, then that character can be played in any Virtual Seattle games, and
use karma and stuff he gets through those games.

I haven't heard much good about the currrent RPGA. If Lightfinger is on the list, I know
he's been wanting to get involved with Virtual Seattle, so he may be able to shed some
light. If he's not, I'll forward him this mail tonight and have him post a response to
the list.

That's a pretty good summary of it. The rules are pretty specific, but
that's 'cause they cover lots of players and gms.

Like most things, it's all 'bout the people. If you have decent RPGA
players at the con, it'll be fun, it not, well...

Yep, that's about the size of it. All Virtual Seattle players have a
standard fixer, Claudia Tyger, who is a top-notch, though wheelchair-bound
decker. (Comic book fans: Think "Oracle" of DC Comics.) Player-character
deckers are discouraged, since a) Claudia sometimes provides the necessary
pointers, courtesy of the GM, and b) running a decker PC might easily take
up an hour of the four-hour slot.

As others have said, it all depends upon who you game with. I've been
doing Virtual Seattle (with Cameron Sykes, my Shark shaman) on and off for
years, and I've had a blast more times than not. My own experience is that
VS tends to attract gamers who are sick of the "weenies" who dominate most
of the RPGA's other "living" campaigns, especially Living City. Because
magic items aren't handed out left and right and because of the generally
more adult content of SR (in comparison to D&D), Virtual Seattle has
pretty much stayed on an even keel, in my opinion. YMMV.

the children look like?"
